I don't think they ever did it. They're doing Bowie songs right now and in the past couple of years have done their versions of DSOTM and Sgt. Pepper's.

Their version of DSOTM blew IMO. I watched that live concert & thought it was horrible

They did remake Court with some other bands, didn't really like it.

Luv the Lips (who wouldn't?) but hate these two prog album covers. I think they burned out after Yoshimi, so Miley is a good way to pay the bills.

    Heh-heh!

I’ve just listened to The Flaming Lips for the first time (Yoshimi) and love it! Right up my alley. FFO h-era Marillion.

Oh man, you haven’t heard The Flaming Lips before now? If you like Yoshimi (which is a great record for sure), definitely check out their follow-up At War With the Mystics. Then for an even more psychedelic experience, listen to Embryonic. It’s killer.

I find their stuff to be very hit and miss. Loved "Yoshimi" and some of their other albums, but they have also done some I have not cared for. Still, when they are good they are great.

I think they are pretty inconsistent too. But their run of Yoshimi through Embryonic I find to be really good, with the latter probably being my favorite by them.

There are quite a few I don’t care for though. Their newest was a pleasant surprise for me, and I ended up getting the vinyl release for it.

The Soft Bulletin was the highpoint for me. Wonderful band (sometimes)

I thought their last two were both quite good.

I'm a pre-Yoshi person, I got interested in their work when I learned about the Mercury Rev connection - around the time of Transmissions from the Satellite Heart. Like revporl, I think Soft Bulletin was their peak. I enjoy Yoshi, but IMO they really started taking themselves a bit too seriously from that point. I've checked in a couple of times in the past 20 years and been sort of meh. Heck, I even sat through Christmas on Mars! Maybe I'll give their latest a spin to see where they're at in the 2020's.

Im so addicted to the main title song on Yoshimi. It’s that electronic farting sound! It accesses the aural pleasure center directly, like The In Sound from Way Out did when I was a kid.
