Decent start to the game.

It was torturous for me to watch Michelle's bug-in-ear segment. Within the last year I was at a pool party and a bug flew into my ear canal. I went from being able to hear perfectly to automatically being deaf in one ear. I felt the little critter fluttering inside. It was immediately painful. No one could see it and I was writhing in pain. I jumped into the pool and it seemed to calm the critter a bit. I exited the pool and one of my friends rolled up some newspaper and lit the end on fire like this:



I felt the bug flutter a lot, then they removed the burning newspaper and the little f*cker came out and I pounced on the thing. It was the most painful 10 minutes I have ever felt in my head.

When they showed the pain she had, my eyes watered a bit as I got chills flashing back to that incident. Damn, it hurt! But, as soon as that bug got out of my ear, it was the most euphoric feeling. My equilibrium was off for a few moments but it was like a rebirth; I felt amazing afterwards.

I kept wondering why they didn't ask for a medic. They wouldn't have pulled her out of the game for that, but maybe it could have been flushed out. Is there a penalty for asking for medical assistance?

After one episode, I've divided the survivors into categories based on early impressions. Note that currently, "Arrogant Douchebags" is the most popular category.

I'll be moving people in and out of categories (and probably making up new ones) as the season progresses.


Arrogant Douchebags: Peter, Kyle, Nick, Scot, Caleb, Anna, Alecia

Head Cases: Aubry, Debbie

Early Boots: Darnell (natch), Joe, Tai, Julia

Too Soon To Call: Michele, Cydney

Potential to be non-annoying winners: Jennifer, Liz, Neal

Sorry for the confusion. March 2nd is when Big Brother Canada begins its 4th season. Survivor started last night and should finish in May.

If you missed last night's episode of Survivor, it is available on CBS.com, but might be different for Canada. Forever Autumn might be able to shed light on that.
