Phil sounds like he needs therapy.
I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.
"Ubiquity bred contempt and..."
So funny to me to see that. The first time I heard the word 'ubiquitous' as a kid was in reference to Phil Collins, in an article about him at the time that his ubiquity was breeding contempt. My cloudy memory suggests it was in a review of Robert Plant's Principle of Moments.
So I've always associated that word with him. I wonder if the interviewer read that review too.
Saddest thing is the article pointing out that he's respected by the likes of Kanye and Adele.
I think Phil's "ubiquity" started way before his solo career. Look at all the things he drummed on during the 70s that weren't Genesis. It's quite a bit. I simply think that Phil loved being a musician and loved working, so he'd try to do as much as possible.

Thanks for posting, I enjoyed reading that.
Phil and most recent ex-wife to re-marry.
She's quite attractive.
Good for him. Seems that he's happier than he's been in recent times.
Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally
I just watched "Phil the Shill" not two days ago. He was quite fun in that episode.
I checked this thread mainly to verify that it was about the drummer from Genesis. I believe that's the first time I've seen him referred to as "Phillip Collins".
^^^^
Bring out a bowl of corn flakes, and he's sure to come along to piss in it...

I feel sorry for Phil, from prog hero to embarrassing middle of the road pop star in a few short years and multi millions into the bargain.
Good, in-depth article. I've never understood the animosity heaped on him by the public and especially by prog fans. He contributed to a LOT great music with Genesis then went on to create great pop records. Get over it. Life's too short. It's not like he snuck into your house one night and strangled one of your kids.
Who dafuc is Phillip Collins?
I wonder if he listens to the music of Gerald Rafferty, Nathaniel Cole, James Hendrix and Lewis Reed?
"you speak ill of Phil at your own risk"
Now THERE's a sig!
