    Mutation – Error 500

Late to the party, but has anyone heard this? Mutation appears to be a group “from the Mr. Bungle School of Weird” that includes Jon Poole (ex-Cardiacs). Their album Error 500 includes a guest appearance from Mr. Straight Edge himself, Mark E. Smith. Here he is in the studio working with them.

    The finished track:

^ Man, oh man. The stories I heard from Jon about that one day 'working' with MES.

No way I could repeat them here, mind.

Look, we don't want stuff like this in here - new artists playing weirdo, alien musics devoid of roots in what we know from before. We want stuff about Phil Collins' wife's shampoo, Jon Anderson's microbiotic cough syrup and other established proggers' hemorroid ointment - that kinda thing.

[This being said, I thought Mutation sounded quite cool].

Ah c’mon…it’s only us three reading this thread anyway. Did MES fiddle with the amps? Spill lager on the mixing board? Decide after ten minutes that it was time to go down the pub?

Funny thing is, I was watching an interview with MES last night…the interviewer asked him about being involved in a “heavy metal thing”, but MES just drew a blank. He had no idea what the interviewer was on about! Comedy gold, that MES.
