I've heard every note since "Duke". I just think that most of it is crap.

Can't agree at all. The very first Genesis I ever heard was the Duke album, and became a fan with the release of ABACAB. I still adore those two albums. I DID venture backwards, and think their best efforts are Foxtrot and Selling England. But I find much more than 1 or 2 good songs from the later albums, in fact don't think they made a weak effort, including Invisible Touch. Its just another side of the band, and still contains proggy moments, along with some nice rock and pop. For me, Genesis made a very slow, gradual change from prog and art rock to mainstream rock and pop. And it was never a complete change. Something like "Fading Lights" is a rather epic track, and that's from the dreaded "We Can't Dance". Actually its a nice album if you skip over the couple ballads that were better suited for Collins solo albums.
Don't get me wrong I've never been a huge Peter Gabriel fan. As such my fav albums are Trick and W & W. Followed by Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot. I don't like Selling England, Lamb, Trespass or ATTWT at all really.
I'm confused, how can someone like Foxtrot but not like Selling England? The only change in sound between those albums was the addition of synths, otherwise they are very similar stylistically. That could also mean you don't like "Firth of Fifth". I hope I'm wrong about that song. We can't all agree on everything, far from it, but it just seems a little odd if true.
