    Dreadnaught....new killler track on Bandcamp

I've been a fan(atic) of these guys since their mind blowing set at Progday 2012. I browse their Bandcamp site occasionally because they usually put stuff up there with no fanfare or promotion. There's a new one they just posted called "Taking A Ride With The Fat Man", that fans or non-fans alike should check out!
I am lousy at describing what something "sounds like"...the first half is like Yes and the Allman Brothers doing shrooms and jamming together, but the second half takes off into parts unknown. More than worth checking out!

Lots more of their stuff on there if this track piques your interest.

I'm a fan...really loved American Standard. But my favorite track is R Daneel Olivaw off of Musica en Flagrante. Just wish their output was a bit greater; their last proper album was 2004. But I suppose you always want to leave them wanting more---really appreciate the heads up on the new track.

Well, they've put out two cd EPs, Have A Drink With Dreadnaught, and Gettin' Tight With Dreadnaught, which are available as physical discs, and I highly recommend them both. I do know that their long-gestating new album Hard Chargin' is close to completion. Can't wait!!

Killer album, IMHO! I remember it with intense fondness from a period when a bit too much US 'prog' for my tastes were about campy dull 'sympho' epics with kitschy jelly blop animated features on the sleeves.

No relation to Dreadnought, I suppose?

I bought Lifewoven last year, and thought it was one of the better releases of 2015.

    No....different band...I didn't even know there was a Dreadnought...!

Zonefish and Scrotum, if you loved American Standard you have got to check out the new stuff from "Have A Drink With Dreadnaught", and "Gettin' Tight With Dreadnaught". The crucial element here is the return of drummer/vocalist Rick Habib, so all the new stuff is actually the first new material recorded by the lineup that recorded the classic The American Standard. The tracks on these two EPs and the as-yet-unavailable (physically) music they are presently creating, at the very least equals that. Aside from the astounding creativity of the music, the vocal harmonies of Rick and guitarist Justin Walton are just sublime in their beauty and complexity...the modern comparison would be to Brett and Ray from echolyn, but you could just as easily compare them to Simon and Garfunkel or the Everly Brothers.
That, on top of the virtuosic, insane, yet so accessible music they create makes them so impressive and irresistible to me. It's mind bending prog that contains the rare elements of having fun and kicking ass.

Bob should chime in here or start a new thread but their new album 'Hard Chargin' is up for preorder, to be released on June 16th.
