    Joey Alexander, Prodigy

Did anyone catch the story on 60 Minutes this past Sunday about this amazing 12-year-old jazz pianist? Amazing feel and technique, regardless of his age.

    Check him out.

And America waits with baited breath for the release of "Dueling Pianos", the new album by The Flowers-Alexander Band!

I thought the same thing. They should feature Rachel someday.

Loved it; thanks for sharing, Scott!

Amazing, but it happens sometimes. Some are just born with a gift. Like the segment said, they still have to work at it, but it just comes faster and more easily to them. Yes, like Rachel Flowers.

Another one who comes to mind is Gary Novak. He's a well established drummer now (George Benson, Chick Corea, Allan Holdsworth, Robben Ford, etc. ), but I saw him play with his dad, Larry Novak (great jazz pianist from Chicago, R.I.P.) when Gary was 12 years old and he just... HAD IT! And let's not forget that Tony Williams was 17 years old when he joined Miles Davis' group... and he was already a major innovator.

Alexander is playing here in a few weeks. Curious if anyone has seen him live. I’ve watched the clips on his site, and it looks like it’ll be a good show.
I want to dynamite your mind with love tonight.

He still isn't old enough to play in bars. Hell, he's barely old enough to drive to the gig with a licensed passenger!
