"This Close" - new album by prepared guitar-player Janet Feder

Especially for those who love their music in 5.1 surround, the new SACD "This Close" by Janet Feder is a must.

Wonderful ambient singer/songwriter-stuff with a lot of noisssssssse.....

Thanks to Bryan Beller for mentioning her in his email-news-letter.

^^ Great review, Jez. Couldn't have written it myself any better :-)

Just picked up her previous album "Songs With Words" too, which is also a fine SACD. More songbased but with the same care for sound.
    Wonderful 5.1 surround mix again.

Thanks for the link. I had to look up "prepared guitar". I really love this kind of ingenuity:

I see she's worked with Fred Frith- sounds like a good match.

That record she did with Frith is one of the latter's finest "all guitar" albums since his 70s days, IMHO.

It's great to see so many and disparate female guitarist within fields of "alternative" musics, like Mary Halvorson, Hedvig Mollestad, Marnie Stern and Feder. Good times for new tone and sound.

I'll have to check this recent one out.

Before I started this thread I did a PE-search and found you were one of the few who mentioned Feder before. Have to credit you for that :-)
