"Improvisation is not an excuse for musical laziness" - Fred Frith
"[...] things that we never dreamed of doing in Crimson or in any band that I've been in," - Tony Levin speaking of SGM
Very interested in the Reve General, could be right up my alley. I'm pretty sure that the Schnellertollermeier is not a debut.

Any time any one speaks to me about any musical project, the one absolute given is "it will not make big money". [tip of the hat to HK]

LA FABBRICA DELL'ASSOLUTO - 1984 L'Ultimo Uomo d'Europa for me
Alco Frisbass and VAK get a thumbs up too...
My debut album of the year pick (nominally "jazz" but really applies to ALL music) has to be Jon Benjamin - Jazz Daredevil's well, I should have...*
He also makes a triumphant foray into hip-hop with the mesmerizing bonus track:
"Wouldn't it be odd, if there really was a God, and he looked down on Earth and saw what we've done to her?" -- Adrian Belew ('Men In Helicopters')
Hooffoot & Witchwood
The Neal Morse Band- TGE
It's wonderful to have an opportunity to see that guy's name in here as well. ^

I would probably go with Dave Kerzner's album. I think it is his first solo effort and I am really digging it.
Aargh, a lot of good ones. But I think for me the nod goes to Hooffoot. Great driving music. I love that subtle Bo Hansson vibe that creeps through on occasion too.
Pandora Snail
Native Construct

this one really took me by surprise and I love it! Corpo-Mente (France)
