    Fog Music Box Set (40 ablums for $30)

    (So I guess ablums really is the new camples, eh? )

    Aural Films on Bandcamp is selling all 40 Fog Music ablums on 4 DVDs (FLAC files) for $30 - ordinarily they're $15 per DVD. I'm not really familiar with what this "internet label" has released. Anyone here familiar with the Fog Music releases and have an opinion? I can't tell if it's all drones or what.

    If "Ab" is short for Abner, it's these guys.

    Seriously, though, is no one familiar with these Fog Music releases?

    Hi Jed;

    I went ahead and sprang for the set before Christmas, and it arrived a few days ago. I knew nothing about Fog Music/Aural Films (of the involved artists, I only knew of K. Leimer before), but at this price point it seemed pretty low risk.

    Overall, it's enjoyable stuff, but very much of a type. Apparently all the music is inspired by fog (i.e. the weather phenomena); as such, we're talking heavy ambient/atmospheric/drone material. If there are any rhythmic components buried across the tracks, I've not yet come across them. I am very much reminded of Steve Roach's most deep space excursions (The Magnificent Void, etc.).

    So...a conditional recommendation, if one enjoys this sort of hardcore deep space ambience Thanks for the tip-off!
    If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:
