Actually for me it would make a big difference based on my experience so far. The NEPA is more to my liking since there is too much citra hops in NEIPA.

^ Breweries submit different beers for judging, and usually only submit around 3, I think. If one of their beers has already won in the past, they are less likely to submit it going forward. After all, the benefit is the plaque that hangs in the Brewpub, and once you've already got that...

Not bad for a state not thought to be exactly a hotbed of craft beer activity!

^ Indeed! Like I've always said, if I want to taste pumpkin pie, I'll buy a pumpkin pie; I won't buy a beer.

Speaking of pumpkin pie, we have an a outlet store for premium restaurant deserts. They make a killer pumpkin pie, quite spicy. However, their bourbon pecan pie is to die for.

This was a real surprise. Inexpensive and in pint cans. Has a clean, crisp and dry taste for a Marzen.

Had some Great Basin Oktoberfest on tap. Probably the only way it's sold. Good stuff. Saw a Firestone Walker Oktoberfest, but have not tried that one yet. Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest is good, as it is every year. Have no interest whatsoever in pumpkin spice flavored beer. Beer flavorings are really getting out of hand these days. Getting harder to find beer flavored beer.

Got the Firestone Walker Oaktoberfest, which is aged in Oak barrels. Stay tuned, I haven’t had any yet.

So I just tasted the Firestone Walker Oaktoberfest. Excellent and a lite oak flavor which is synergistic to the flavor.

I've got to try that. Love to see it in a Bone-Up glass.

Tremor California Light Lager - noticed this won a gold medal and knew where it was sold. Tasty organic west coast lager.

In my continuing search for good Oktoberfest beers, I got some:

Ayinger Oktoberfest - pricey 4 pack of 11 oz bottles, but expect this German beer to be good. Will let you know after I have one.

I've heard legendary things about that bottle but never found one out here in the sticks. Enjoy.

Tried a few drafts today. My wife was along, so I didn't have to kill a pint of each:

    Left Hand Oktoberfest (Colorado)
    Firestone Walker Oaktoberfest (California)
Revision Sucka Fish Triple IPA (11.5% alc, 120 IBU) (Nevada)

The Ayinger Oktober Fest-Märzen is a truly fine beer. From now on, I will judge all Oktoberfest beers by comparison to it. Malty-sweet with just enough Hallertau hop bite/afterflavor to make you want another one. Ingenious. One does not even consider flavored beer when pure Reinheitsgebot beer tastes this good.
