Just heard Ian Rankin on a BBC5 live endorse this IPA

Rebus has done much to re-popularize the humble IPA so I will probably try soon.

I remember very well when Ian Whyte launched the Deuchar's IPA, as his signature beer at the Cumberland - it just revolutionised beer culture in Edinburgh.

I was in Edinburgh last week, visiting old haunts. I believe Edinburgh has the most handsome bars - none more so than Bennets, where the beer was in superb fettle... 20221022_131756.jpg

On a halloween trip to supply our home with halloween candy, I noticed the supermarket had some Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale.

Last time I was at a brewpub I had some local Oktoberfest beer.

Since Sierra Nevada opened that brewery in Asheville NC, the price of that beer and their others including the doubles is the lowest amongst craft beer.

Picked up my annual batch of Mad Elf, by Troegs. Great holiday beer for the colder weather. It disappears quickly so if you're looking for it, act fast.

"After more than a year of consultation and reflection, the monks of St. Joseph’s Abbey have come to the sad conclusion that brewing is not a viable industry for us and that it is time to close the Spencer Brewery. We want to thank all our customers for their support and encouragement over the years. Our beer will be available in our regular retail outlets, while supplies last. Please keep us in your prayers."

Sad to see them go (the brewery, that is). I enjoyed their various brews, particularly the Trappist ale.

Looking forward to my day in court.
