I just thought it was funny that you'd say your sister's son, instead of saying your nephew. Either way I think that's VERY cool!

Yeah! When he was in the Stanley Cup, you couldn't shut me up here.

I remember this, Greg! He was a gritty player...definitely in the love him if he's on your team, hate him if he's not category

The Minnesota Wild have bought out Ryan Suter and Zach Parise, who each had four years remaining on the identical 13-year $98M contracts they signed in 2012. Wonder if they will try to sign on with a contender as a package deal, each for the league minimum?

Wow! NYR just grabbed Barclay Goodrow for a 7th rounder...looks like Tampa is sheddin' some $$. I love this dude, gritty as hell and can play

Also picked up a 4th rounder and Nick DiSimone from SJ for Brett Howden...who I wish well, but did nothing here. Don't know much about DiSimone other than he's D.

    Nice moves!

Great move but he is a pending UFA. A 7th rounder for the inside track for the next week and a half. Only upside on this deal.

NYI trade Nick Leddy for Rich Panik (1/2 salary still paid by DET) and a 2nd rounder. Isles were going to lose him anyway so this is making the best of a bad situation. Didn’t want to see him go as Isles need a top four D man this year. The Isles got Leddy because of the salary cap from CHI, and leaves the same way.

Look up grit in the dictionary and there’s a photo of Goodrow.

Glad he’s going to a good home.

Isles find a way to get rid of Andrew Ladd. Cost them 3 draft picks but no first rounder. Save 5.5 million on the cap. Leddy and Ladd saves 11 million. Boychuk moves to LTIR and the gives the Isles close to 18 million to play with. Uncle Lou has several players to resign (Beauvillier, Sorokin, Pelech, Palmieri, Cizikas, Zajac ) but I think there may be a big FA signing and more deals. The Isles are all in with the new arena. LGI!

Can you tell I’m ready for the season to start?!

Rumor has it that Rangers are working on a long term contract with Goodrow.

Yeah...6 year 3.5 mil is what I'm hearing. That's kinda steep, but much needed. I see that Eberle and Bailey were both left unprotected for yous guys. Kind of surprising to see both of them there.

There's a regular dude with a YT channel called The Hockey Guy that I subscribe to. I think he's pretty good, covers all that goes on in the NHL and is on top of things. Might be something you guys and gal would be interested in.

Those are the numbers I also heard. Pretty steep IMHO. Happy though as the Rangers are mentioned for Cizikas and signing Goodrow would end that idea.

If one of them goes, I'm guessing it’s Eberle. He’s very streaky and won’t be getting better. Either way that frees up about 6 million. I wonder if Ovi wants to play for his old coach?

Thanks the hockey guy knows his stuff.

The interesting thing is that Clutterbuck and Martin were protected, which makes one think a side deal "not to choose" Cizikas has been made so that Isles can re-sign him.

Most all UFA's are not protected because the Kraken could select them, but they can still walk leaving Seattle with nothing from that selection. They can wait until the free agents are available for signing to talk to Cizikas. If say Martin was unprotected, and Seattle picks him, he is a Seattle Kraken. Its a chess game.

^^^ no need to watch. Isles lose Eberle. Expected, Lou has plenty of money to play with now.

I think the only one on that list that was wrong was the BJ choice. So one thing's for sure...depending on how many of these players get traded in the coming days, the Kraken are definitely going to cause some bruising. Some big boys in there!

The Red Wings acquire goalie Alex Nedeljkovic from the Hurricanes in a trade. I like it!

It's even better drinking the bitter tears of Canes fans. Boy, are they upset at management about this trade.

He is very good!! Nice pick-up there...much needed.

Goodrow is now officially a Ranger. I just hope he lives up to the 6 year 3.6 mil contract. More moves to come...

Understandable, on paper it appears that the Red Wings got the better end of the deal.
