Pavel Bure's number will be retired by the Canucks this upcoming season. It should have happened a long time ago. Well-deserved.

25 years ago today, 8-09-88, the infamous Gretzky trade took place. Not high on my list of memories of where I was when I heard the news, but it was stunning at the time. The Blackhawks had some talented teams back then, but they could never compete with Gretzky and Edmonton. I never thought he'd be traded.

No buzz yet for the new season? I'm comin' apart at the seems waiting for the first preseason game. New coach, new system, some new players, new TV in my man cave...

Are we having a Fantasy season this year?

I figured you'd be starting a new thread for this season but I guess it doesn't really matter...

I'm more geared up about the upcoming NFL season right now. In a few weeks I'll be eager for hockey, when the pre-season games begin. I have no idea which Habs team will show up this season: The one that started last season, or the one that ended it.

Like Yves, I am approaching this season with some apprehension. Not sure if the Sens will be able to keep pace with the others and now that Detroit is playing in the East, it makes it that much more interesting, but difficult. I guess there's a lot of pressure on the guys who were injured last year to come back strong (Spezza, Karlsson and Cowen) and for newcomer Bobby Ryan to light it up.

Too bad the owner is being a bit of a douchebag these days - both in terms of capping the salaries at about $51M and his ongoing fight with the city over not being in the running for a new casino beside the CTC (nee Paladium).

I'm pretty stoked for the season. The Oilers have made what, I think, are moves that should've been made quite some time ago, both in terms of on ice and off ice personnel. I'm hoping that Eakins gets the youngsters to the next level, or at least gets them going in the right direction.

Of course. I checked the Yahell page last night and they don't have it set up yet where I can reactivate the league. Once they do I'll get that taken care of and will let all the regulars know by email.

The PEFHL has been reactivated. All of the regulars should have received an email with the reactivation URL. If you haven't, send me a message and let me know.

Yeah I'm geared up for NFL too. With NHL though and the Rangers I'm itching to see how things will be with the new coach and all. Hoping to see more offense! A few new faces, but nothing crazy. I think picking up Dominick Moore was a great move.

Cool, I was wondering just today about the fantasy league.

Looking forward to the season too, although I'm even less confident about our likelihood of slipping into the playoffs coming out of the new division.

This is not fun...we need some lockout this season to make some lousy teams look good...

Really looking forward to football as well, but after the Raiders start 0-4 I will be more than ready for some NHL come Oct 1st. Got my NHL center ice package renewed and am hoping the Kings can keep it going. The last two years have been pretty magical!

Pre season starts next week. Can't wait. Hockey all week and football on Sunday makes the horror of my fall work schedule easier to stomach!

Hey Brian, haven't heard anything about that Keeper League. Is is still on?

Dude! Toronto in the playoffs after a full season? Are you mad?

Hey guys. So I haven't been around much during the summer but I'm in for the 2013/14 season talk. You need a token chick around here to keep this place classy.

Are we continuing this thread or starting a new one?

Keeper league is set up. Those of you in the regular league will see the info posted in the messages on our page. If you aren't in the regular league but are interested in some longer term fantasy hockey action send me a message here.

I'm so psyched for the realigned divisions. As a Caps fan, I'm happy to have Philly, Pitt, NYR and NYI back in our division - was getting sick of playing Florida and Tampa over and over again. I would've loved to replace Columbus and Carolina with Boston and Buffalo, but I can't have everything.

Maybe my Caps won't break my heart again this year. I've been a fan since '74 (when I was 6), and they kill me every year. But I won't give up... ROCK THE RED!
