Great moment. But you forgot to mention that Daniel scored the game winner in OT Makes it all the more storybook.

I don't think Leaf management is worried about this, as the cliche is "you gotta beat the best at some point"...however, the playoff system is a joke. Leafs could be 3rd in the entire conference, and get stuck playing #2, and if they win, then #1. Seriously, it only makes sense in Bettman's brain.
It's guaranteed that 2 of the top 3 teams in the conference will be gone after round 2.
Man I agree with this so hard. It's so stupid.

And you forgot to mention brother Henrik got the assist!

Hey folks, I don't follow the modern game at all but was a huge hockey fan during the 70's thru 90's. Wondering if anyone here is on the hfboards.com forum? I post exclusively in the Hockey History subform as "Sealsfan". If anyone has purchased the new book about the old California Golden Seals, there are two short anecdotes about me in it.

Mercifully the Red Wings season is over. 2 years in a row not being in the playoffs is odd territory for us. On the bright side the team has a lot of young talent and we get 7 draft picks in the first 3 rounds of the next draft, so the rebuilding should continue. General Manager Ken Holland got a two year renewal today and rumor has it that coach Blashill will be given at least one more year.

Ha, ha, ha...yeah right. Another 5 goals given up. Pretty much our modus operandi since the midway point of the season.

The Flyers finally found a way to beat the Rangers. And won a big game, for a change.

For their reward, they get to face the Penguins. Ugh.

I don't see the Flyers going very far. Yeah they swallowed up our AHL team yesterday, but the D is questionable and that goaltending issue just never seems to get solved there.

I'm so surprised that The bruins came up short last night against Florida. Not to avoid the Leafs, but to win the East! Home ice right till the finals.
There's just some talk on sports radio this morning that nobody wants the Devils. lol At this time of year, everybody looks for chalk board motivation

Well, they have been very, very strong down the stretch and will be a tough out, I think.

No doubt Brian, I like that Devil's team, and many Toronto sports broadcasters are pushing for Hall to get league mvp.
I just don't think the Bruins purposely lost to avoid them though. People like to think that way as they imagine it motivating our players.

I don't give the Flyers any shot in a 7-game series. Would love to have them surprise me, though.

Who does everyone like for the Hart? There's a push around here for Giroux, but does McDavid have it sewn-up?

The Bruins have struggled recently with major injuries, including both R. Nash's, Brandon Carlo who is lost for the season due to an ankle injury which really hurts their defense, Chara and McAvoy were both out until a couple of games ago; and Chara looks even slower than normal, if that is even possible. Plus they played on Saturday. So the loss to Florida is frustrating, but I la it far more at the feet of being dinged up and not being rested than trying to finesse their first round playoff opponent.

The B's have sucked against Toronto this year. As good as the B's are, Toronto may just be a tough match-up for them, made tougher now by the injures. I think they'd have happily taken NJ in the first round if they could have mustered a better game last night. Personally, I don't think the B's get by Toronto unless we get some guys back and the goalies stand on their heads. Even then, Toronto is a good team. I still think this was a great year for the B's, we're ahead of schedule and Sweeny's plan to right the ship is becoming clear and already paying dividends. So the future looks bright to me, and I've never bought into this being the year for the B's.

Hope it's a good series, with no injuries on either side!

    Bill

Great game in Peg City tonight--kinda thought that would be a great series and, by the looks of the first game, that seems to be the case.

The game in Pittsburgh? Not so much.

Meanwhile, did anybody else catch the Medieval Times crap in the Vegas pregame? Was kinda rooting for them but since their PR team decided it was OK to hire a couple of dudes who can't get a casino gig to play out a scene from Lord of the Rings prior to game one that's just not gonna happen.

Hat trick for Crosby. That first goal of his, the mid-air backhand swat was insane!

Flyers need to make it personal. Teams who beat Pittsburgh in the playoffs usually do so by beating them up!

Loved the atmosphere in The Peg! Sentimental favorites for me in the tourney this year since Barb is from there and I have visited many times.

    Leafs tonight!
