Was just doing a crossword puzzle and one of the answers was DEKE. Never heard that term before. Is that used all the time? What's the origin? The clue was "Fake out in the rink."

Well, you can deek to the right, or deek to the left. Not sure of other deeking. (putting a move on your opponent)
Drouin of the Lightning is great at it.

I've heard the term for as long as I can remember. You don't hear it very often any more. I could swear that they used to use the term in football as well (the shifty running back deked the defender out of his jock strap!), but maybe it was only on Canadian football broadcasts.

Which is worse, the Habs picking up the B's castoffs...or picking up their own castoffs?

Growing up in NYC metro, we used 'deked' all the time, though i don't hear it often anymore. We also used 'juked' as an analogous term.

Deke, IMO, is more like an attempted fake successful or not.

Juked was a very successful deke.

Seems like a poor fit to me, a mismatch of coaching skills and the strengths of the team; other than Carey Price. But, whatever. He speaks French, I guess that's a plus.

Obviously the Scabs are the Bruins biggest rivals, but having Julien behind the bench doesn't exactly strike terror into my heart. We'll see how it goes, but my guess is no Cup for the Scabs with Julien there, which obviously breaks my heart. If I'm wrong, then I'll eat my 1970 Bobby Orr sweatshirt, which sadly I'm too big to fit into because I was seven in 1970.

I've never played hockey and even I know what a deke is.

    Wow.

For the initial 30 minutes, although down 2 goals, I thought the Isles were the better team. Andersen was standing on his head! Very impressive.

And the Maple Buds have the offensive chops to keep up with anyone.

The Isles will get there but given the upcoming NINE game road trip, they need to get into a playoff spot then defend that position while on the road.

Therrien was due to get fired. I've been calling for his head here since last season. Julien has coached here before and bergevin got to know him during the World Cup tournament. I'm scratching my head a little at his nomination, but we will see. Bergevin must have been feeling a lot of pressure from ownership to not let this early season get wasted. He now needs to make a trade or two ..

Well, it's *highly* unlikely they would have been able to acquire Patrick Roy had the team remained in Quebec. And without Roy those two Cups likely wouldn't have happened either.

Hey Brad. Good call on Hammond. Looks like his NHL career was a very brief flash in the pan.

    DANGLES! That's my favorite.

It's going to be pretty odd seeing Julien on the Montreal bench no doot!

Mudshark vs. Klonk tomorrow night. Be there!

I'm just razzin' you, and I fully accept being razzed back. Boston is blessed (or cursed) with three of the greatest rivalries in sports, and Bruins-Habs may be #1 of all of them.

By the way, here's my little sweatshirt that my mother dutifully saved. It's the real deal from the late 60s, surely no later than 1970, though I doubt it's worth much.

    Tell it!!

Went to see my X-) man and got a case of Mich Ultra to wash away the dry mouth.

Got my playoff towels out, my 80s white jersey ready to wear. My son has his modern home blue.

I am just grateful that things went from laughable to serious.

How many times did you dive on your couch reenacting that Orr cup winner while wearing that shirt?
