LOTS of teams with two first rounders this year. Should yield a lot of trades, even if means that those teams are more willing to trade 2nd and 3rd round picks as a result of having more than one in the 1st.

Habs have very picks this year, having given up a 2nd and 4th iirc for Petry. He played well for us and we managed to re-sign him so I think it was worth it.

The Sens have traded Lehner and Legwand to the Sabres for the 21'st pick in tonight's draft. I thought that Lehner would have returned an NHLer or a really good prospect.

Yeah, that's a really expensive price for the 21st overall pick, though the draft is supposedly incredibly deep this year.

The Flames nab Dougie Hamilton from Boston for the 15th, 45th, and 52nd picks in the 2015 draft.

Damn. That's a helluva pickup for Calgary.

It rarely happens but the way our league works is that if it's a 4 on 3 in overtime and your penalty expires(in other words, the other team has 4) you have a guy jump the boards and go 4-on-4 until the next whistle and
then it goes back to 3-on-3. We actually had a 3-on-3 overtime last night. We were down 4-1 and made it 4-4 by pulling the goalie and scoring with 9.9 seconds left, then winning in overtime which was a 5-minute 3-on-3, with 36 seconds left. In the other 4 and a half minutes there were at least 3 breakaways and 3 or 4 good chances to score for both so it really opens up the ice. Basically if any guy gets free, usually it's a great scoring chance as the best skaters are on the ice.

Mark my words - the Bruins will rue the day they fired Peter Chiarelli. Nice start Sweeney - you hack!

Boston trades Milan Lucic to the Kings for the 13th overall pick in the 2015 draft, Martin Jones, and Colin Miller.

I don't think it will stick but currently Boston has the 13th, 14th, and 15th picks in the first round.

Rangers send Carl Hagelin plus 2015 2nd and 6th round picks to Anaheim for Emerson Etem and a 2015 2nd rounder.

Rangers send Cam Talbot and 209th pick to Edmonton for 57th, 79th, and 184th picks.

Well, guess we'll see if this guy is for real.

If you do the calculations for the statistical value of draft picks, this essentially indicates that Talbot is worth a mid to late 1st rounder. Not sure I like that.

And don't even get me started on the Griffin Reinhart deal.

Edmonton trades Martin Marincin to Toronto for Brad Ross and a 4th round pick.

The Oilers got fleeced on this one.

OK...they flipped the pick to get Eric Gryba. Now I feel better.

Very happy with the Flyers' two 1st-round picks.

Busy day so far. Brandon Saad to Columbus in a multiplayer deal. Martin Jones sent from Boston to San Jose. Lauri Korpikoski to Edmonton for Boyd Gordon. Kevin Bieksa to Anaheim for a draft pick.

Ron Hextall should get Executive of the Year for getting a 3rd-rounder for Zac Rinaldo.

WTF is going on in Boston?

Okay - Toronto gave up a 1st-round pick, Kapanen, and Harrington.

Toronto has some huge contracts for underperformers. Nobody was going to take Kessel at his current contract. Don't be surprised if they trade Phaneuf and continue to pay for his contract too. Previous management were idiots when it came to contract negotiations.
