Brodeur between the pipes for the Note tonight vs the Preds

Talk about throwing yourself into the fire, a night after a disastrous 3rd period vs the Hawks

20 saves for Brodeur but the Blues D wasn't much help

    Disappointing

Looks like the Buffalo/Tampa Bay game got ugly. 110 penalty minutes clocked last night! Check out the third period in the attached penalty summary.

I see Kaleta was involved. What a shock.

    Are we in the 70s??

I'm glad to see that these sorts of periods are anomalies and not the norm. I did not see the highlights but in checking that link it looks like things got out of hand at 8:58 of the 3rd, then boiled over again at 11:25? Was the game already out of reach at that point?

Halak gets his 11th win in a row; breaking Billy Smith's record.
Isles are still the only team in the league without an OT loss. Its like "You want the crummy pansy point...take it, we are taking 2!" lol
They do have five wins in the skillz competition though...most in the league.

The Isles have not been invovled in any 'old skool' scrums this year yet(...it always seems to happen when the Isles play Cindy and the IceFowl).
I dont mind the occasional 1v1 scrum...but lets leave the Broad Street tactics in the past...

Thomas, I hope they can maintain the pace throughout the season. It'd be nice to see the Isles in the playoffs...

According to the box score on the NHL site, it was 4-0 going into the 3rd and TB scored their fifth (a power play goal) at 18:55 for a final score of 5-0. Is 4-0 out of reach? For Buffalo against Tampa? Yeah. I'd say so.

Buffalo has come on of late though. Beat the Habs twice in 2 nights...although that's not saying all that much, lately...

I assume we'll be facing him this afternoon, which is interesting as we jettisoned him last year for the ultimate disappointment that was Ryan Miller

...who is having an outstanding year this year.

Islanders! Thomas you fuck! I love that they are playing great though. It's great for the game and great for our rivalry.

Perhaps, but he was anything but last year after an "all-in" move to get him

Its so cool to see the mausoleum so active! The Isles are getting 13k on some weeknight games!

This should shame both Wang and Nassau county government for not getting a deal done.

In what seems like forever, there is actually Rangers hockey on my tv right now!!

edit- maybe a few more days off were needed. Blow a 2-0 lead and can't score with what seemed like a ten minute 2 man advantage to end the game.

And the Sens pulled one out the fire last night. They played very poorly for the first period or so and were down 3 - 0. The Canucks took a ton of penalties and killing them wore them out. The Sens evened it up in the second, played a scoreless third and won it in OT. Mika Zibanejad had a four point night and is starting to show why he was a 6'th overall pick several years ago. Rumours here had Paul MacLean being fired if they didn't win one over the weekend, so this may have saved his job.
