I forgot that Joni Mitchell’s “River” is technically a Christmas song. I mean, it even quotes “Jingle Bells”!

Confirmed Bachelors: the dramedy hit of 1883...
Thanks everyone for the really great, and not so great suggestions. But for my likes, there is way more than enough offerings for my playlist. I'll work on it this weekend, and will present the list when done. XMAS CHEERS!
Day dawns dark...it now numbers infinity.
For anyone who loves the big band sound of the 40's this is a great disc. It was released in 1996. An excellent recording with stellar sound and musicianship. The arrangements are very well done also.
Christmas / Holiday music is being piped into supermarkets, elevators, mass transit, and (I think) directly into my brain, when I remove my tin-foil hat!
But there are rare arrangements that can actually be enjoyed by the progressive music aficionados on this forum.
Can you post links to any Christmas / holiday songs or arrangements that are out-of-the-ordinary, and worth listening to?
This one popped up on social media recently. Quite fun, and a bit different ... I felt it was more to be appreciated than enjoyed, but worth a 3-minute spin.
What are your favorites?
Regards,
Duncan
Nice and light cheerful Christmas music.
I bet they're a real hoot at a Christmas party. "mind if we bring our instruments and play a few Christmas tunes for your guests?" " why of course, we'd love it".
10 minutes later a large moving truck pulls up in front of the house, and a team of professional movers ring the door bell with 5 Grand Pianos in their hands..as the door opens, one can be heard "where would you like these?"
ok, I have a very active imagination, but I did enjoy the video and the players do seem to be having a great time with it!
I can't think of any out of the ordinary songs at the moment, but thanks for posting this.

Christmas / Holiday Music You Can Actually Enjoy? Call me Grinch, but my answer is "none." I positively DESPISE Xmas music.
Scroll down a few threads on the main page: there is a 2 page thread devoted to this very subject called: Tis the Season. I posted a couple of things on it. Sorry, don't know how to post a link to it. MC & HNY!
This may not be what you have in mind, but this amateur choir from my childhood hometown does a great job with sophisticated choral arrangements I think most proggers could appreciate.
Here's another one - this is from a PE member:

I have this Christmas CD:

Perhaps that would be the most prog of my Christmas-albums. Except perhaps something by Loreena McKennitt.
Other Christmas-albums I have are not prog. Some are also not all Christmas, but also winter.
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones have a Christmas album that is quite fun:

Their 12 Days of Christmas is quite clever!
There's a movie on Hulu (and maybe other services) called Jingle Bell Rocks! about collectors of out of the ordinary Christmas music.
Here's an example my family has enjoyed since our kids were little:
Happy Holidaze!

I think everyone has probably heard the mid-70s earworm hit, "Magic", from those pre-Alan Parson Project guys, Pilot. I just found out that they re-cut the song with Christmas lyrics:
Sufjan Stevens- "Christmas Unicorn"
I particularly love the last 7 to 8 minutes.
This is a Christmas song all about Alan Parsons:
