I came across this band on Bandcamp but haven't really taken the time to sample them much. They seem to be very reminiscent of Umphrey's McGee. Are there any fans here on PE? Any album recommendations ? Are their live recordings better than their studio output?

UV Hippo were at a music festival I went to a couple of years ago. The Rock n Roll Resort. I wanted to see them because they were touted as progressive and Zappaish. But they got scheduled as the last band of the night at like 4AM and I had crashed.

Still hoping to catch them at another fest one of these days.

Yes, I could have posted a link but since I was asking people for advice about them I kind of expected people in the know to chime in...

I just took on chance on their latest release. If I get decent mileage out of it, I'll work my way backwards...

Went over to the bandcamp link and clicked on one of the live recordings.

The quality of the vocals pretty much rule out any further interest on my part.

They have played around here quite a bit (Southwest Michigan), although I have never seen them. I have heard good things though.

i am avoiding the live recordings as well. the disc I purchased doesn't suffer from overly weak vocals. I will stick with their studio releases. Probably work my way backwards.
