    1970's Radio Serials

Back in the mid-70s, I listened to WMMR (Philly) a lot, sometimes late at night. In the wee hours (I think) they used to broadcast installments of serial stories that were of a fantasy/psychedelic nature. Does anyone else remember these? I'd love to know what they were called and try to hunt them down. What say ye?

Most likely, you're referring to The Fourth Tower of Inverness, or the next Jack Flanders serial, Moon Over Morocco. The Fourth Tower of Inverness was funded by Grunt Records, the Jefferson Airplane label.
    Their website is http://www.zbs.org/catalog/
Here is the wiki for 4th Tower. That is truly my fave by ZBS.

I remember first hearing this on WRAS, Georgia State University's FM station. They played episodes about 6 times per day. They also played all of the week's episodes at 7 PM on Sunday evenings. I used to love hearing the intro with wolves howling "High upon a mountain...above the pines and mists that surround the Bay of Inverness...there stands an incredible mansion..."
You can buy it on CD or even mp3 download. The original radio edits are only available on MP3.

I listened to Inverness too, crazy stuff, but cool.

I also very fondly remember listening to the Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, and Lord of the Rings radio adaptations. I remember watching the needles on my cassette recorder, as I recorded each episode.

The only radio theater from the 70's that I recall was CBS Radio Mystery Theater, that I used to listen to on one of these.

Here is a 5 minute sample. Can't figure out how to post YouTube videos directly in post.
