Sanguine Hum-- What we ask is where we begin--The Songs for Days sessions--Studio album --2 CD

Sanguine Hum return to cast an intriguing light on the early years of their career. Whilst many Hum fans got on board with the albums the Weight of the World and Diving Bell, there will be many completely unaware of a “lost” gem recorded in 2006 – an album that technically was the band’s bona fide debut: Songs For Days. It was lost for a number of reasons. Firstly, the band had yet to settle on the name Sanguine Hum, and for some rather convoluted reasons it came out as Joff Winks Band (a name universally hated by everyone in the band...especially Joff!). Secondly, despite much initial excitement, Songs For Days failed to find a home on a record label and so appeared with minimal hurrah as a digital download only.
Over 40 minutes of never before heard songs and instrumentals
    - Several instrumental pieces newly finished by the band for this release
    - The band’s authentic and faithful cover of Steely Dan’s classic song Here at the Western World
    - The 2006 first attempt at recording future Sanguine Hum classic There’s No Hum
    - 20 minutes of session outtakes from the main Songs For Days tracking dates
    - New mixes of singles / B-Sides
    - Extended liner notes, interviews, rare photos and memorabilia from the era

Andy Jackson-73 days at Sea--2Cd only, album plus 5.1 surround mix

With special guests on the "epic track" David Jackson (ex VDGG) and Anne Marie Helder.
A wonderful new studio album by Grammy Award winning engineer and Pink Floyd co-producer ANDY JACKSON – 73 Days at Sea.
This eagerly awaited follow up to his acclaimed debut album Signal to Noise (2014) is a fine collection of songs linked by a "sea" theme.

    Jan Akkerman-s/t

Eyes of Blue --Crossroads of Time

Oh man! Been waiting decades on these! Have the masters been found Vicky? I know back in 2012 Taff Williams, Phil Ryan and Ritchie Francis went looking for them and couldn't find them. Best news of the day besides Pugwash's throat operation being successful! Really looking forward to these. I'll finally be able to put my needledrops away! Thank you!

If that's the unexpurgated GDR Palast der Republik show, I'm on that like jam on toast.

    Crossroads of Time
Digitally remastered and expanded edition of the classic 1969 album (some sources say 1968 as the release year) by the legendary Welsh band Eyes Of Blue. Formed in 1966, the band won the Melody Maker "Beat Contest" that year and signed to Decca's Deram label. Following the release of some unrepresentative singles, the band came to the attention of producer Lou Reizner. The line-up of Gary Pickford-Hopkins (vocals), Wyndham Rees (vocals), Phil Ryan (keyboards), Ray "Taff" Williams (guitar), Ritchie Francis (bass) and John Weathers (drums) recorded their debut album, Crossroads of Time, between March and July 1968 in London. Finally released in early 1969, the album was a fine mixture of original compositions and imaginative covers, (such as '7 + 7 Is' and 'Yesterday'). The album's title track and 'Love is the Law' were penned by the legendary Graham Bond, who also wrote the original album notes. A highly original album with psychedelic, jazz and classical influences, Crossroads of Time is now regarded as a classic of the era and is much sought after by collectors. This Esoteric Recordings edition is the first official CD release of the album (fully endorsed by the band) and has been remastered from the master tapes. It includes the rare bonus track 'Q III' and a booklet, which fully restores the original album artwork and features a new essay with rare photographs.

    In Fields of Ardath

Digitally remastered and expanded edition of the classic 1969 album by the legendary Welsh band Eyes Of Blue. Formed in 1966, the band won the Melody Maker "Beat Contest" that year and signed to Decca's Deram label. Following the release of some unrepresentative singles, the band came to the attention of producer Lou Reizner. The line-up of Gary Pickford-Hopkins (vocals), Wyndham Rees (vocals), Phil Ryan (keyboards), Ray "Taff" Williams (guitar), Ritchie Francis (bass) and John Weathers (drums) recorded their debut album between March and July 1968 in London. The album sold in sufficient quantities for the band to be given the chance to record a second album in the Spring of 1969, In Fields of Ardath. The sessions coincided with the departure of Wyndham Rees and the band's second album was more progressive in feel, touching on a range of influences from psychedelic rock, R&B, jazz, Indian and classical music. Quincy Jones (with whom the band worked on the unreleased score to the film Toy Grabbers) would later comment; "All the ethnic qualities which I had recalled about the people of Wales were manifest in that tape. There was a native sensuality in their playing. Eyes Of Blue was musically curious"

Good to hear about the Fuchsia; it's a gorgeous album of intensely atmospheric progressive folk-rock sporting their own string trio. Wonderful lyrics to boot, and quite untypical for its time. I rate this almost as highly as I do the likes of Comus, Simon Finn and Jan Dukes de Grey.

Nice to get that early Sanguine Hum stuff as well. Now if you could only do a CD compiling those three Antique Seeking Nuns EPs...

Looking forward to the Sanguine Hum (IMO they came up with 2015's prog album of the year) and the TD box.

Can't share the enthusiasm for Badger. The best thing about it was the cover IMO - the music was eminently forgettable.

Does it matter that this waste of time is what makes a life for you?

Hi Vicky. What's happened to the Bill Nelsinho reissues? Are they not doing as well as hoped? If not, it's a shame

We just did another Bill Nelson one last month

"In Fields of Ardath" is a recommended release as it contains the best of the Eyes of Blue material. The Fuchsia album is also mega-recommended and it had been reissued 6 to 7 times from 00s onwards (though mostly on vinyl).

Love this album. Which of the RE would you recommend? I've held off on getting the vinyl for a while since it's fairly confusing.

About 5 years ago Geoff had put an album up on Myspace. He said he was trying to find a label for it. It was very good. Is this it? or is this something brand new?
