I remember a panel from an R. Crumb comic; it's depicting his miserable high school days when all females rejected him... and that tune is playing from somebody's radio.
Yeah, that was the song I thought of to. I'm not a huge doo-wop fan, but certain songs I heard quite a bit of when I was little, either because they were on the American Graffiti soundtrack or because of Sha-Na-Na (I can't believe we actually watched their TV show at the time).
So stick around...cause we might miss you
