I blame Wynton, what was the question?

    Hey all,

I'm super excited about this fest...I'm going to try and nab tickets on Friday.

Thanks for the hotel tips and other pertinent info, this will be my first time @ BE.

Walt, if there are any straight acousmatic type stuff there, we'll have to check them out...the Zeena/Ikue duo sounds pretty stellar.

And then of course...THE NECKS!! Plus Tony Buck in a duet performance with Ikue Mori and Chris Abrahams solo...lordy..someone get me a fan!!

    If it ain't acousmatique-It's crap

Yep. Broke out my Kiasmos CD last night as a refresher...I probably prefer Arnalds on his own, but it'll still be damned cool to see him live

We can all meet up for a pic during the Sunn O))) set

Jesting aside...it'll be cool to see some PE faces out there. Happy to see folks getting as excited about this one as I've been

I don't think they sell out at all, given the size of the venues, etc.. I have a local friend in Knoxville, and I was able to get her a day pass on Sunday without any problems.

The VIP passes, those will probably sell out. I'm still debating whether to spring for one of those or just get the "regular" pass and the 3 night tickets.

Mind you...I'm still gonna be hitting the site hard at 12:00 tomorrow

If i liked the three Tennessee Theater shows,i might(repeat..might) have considered springing for the VIP ticket.Luckily for my credit card, i don't.Regular pass for me, thank you.

Two of them are definite "sees" for me, and the third is a "well hell, I'm already here so why not?" kind of deal.

But hey: thank YOU for increasing my chances for scoring a VIP

Any idea when we could expect to see an actual schedule rather than just a list of artists? The number of shows each day surely suggests there will be a lot of things happening at the same time at different venues, so I would have to know what I could see and what I would miss due to conflicts before giving any serious thought to attending.

  13. #38
The final detailed per-day schedule usually comes later. I think last year it really took shape by January/February. That might change this year; they've also announced the lineup sooner than last year so who knows?

I had to sacrifice a few things, but they actually stagger things pretty nicely.

My current quandary is when to show up.
It is an 8+ hour drive from DC, so if I leave on Thursday after rush I will get to Knoxville just in time for the first shows.
So do I show up on Wednesday and enjoy Knoxville, spring for airfare on Thursday ( and hope for the best ), or just show up exhausted just in time.
Maybe they will have mercy and not have any bands I really want to see until later Thursday.

Is it all-day programming (e.g. noon-to-midnight sort of thing) or just in the evenings (e.g. starting at 6, 7, or 8pm each day and going until 1, 2, or 3am)?

    Technically, both ;-)

The earliest shows are around 11 or so (maybe a panel discussion or two was slightly earlier), and the last sets started between 12-1 AM in the mornings, and when until Holy Christ-O'Clock or so...

    T-90 for tickets...

I'm going to try and refrain from furiously hitting F5 until, oh...25 minutes before they go online

    Good luck everyone!!

John, the electronic music symposium we attended at the Knoxville Art Museum, didn't it start at 12 noon?...

I think you are correct Walt, but I can't remember for certain. It was definitely earlier in the day; I also remember walking to the wrong place at first and having to hoof it all the way out to the Museum on short notice (blended in nicely with those marathon runners ).

Their healthy way made me feel very guilty. I consoled my wounded spirits with several pastries from one of the nearby cafes

    T-43 and counting...
