    Pandora Acquires Tickeyfly

Not sure how this could be a really good thing.
Tickeyfly charges about as much as TicketBastard in fees.
They just 'seem' less evil somehow. Acquisitions usually don't result in lower prices.

    To our valued fans:

What a day! Earlier, we announced that Pandora will be acquiring Ticketfly to create the world’s most powerful live events and music discovery platform.

We are incredibly excited about all the ways that this will help make live event experiences even better for you. Together, we will tackle the longstanding problem of event discovery and harness our combined data to help you find out about more great events. For now, you can continue to purchase tickets on Ticketfly.

We’re fired up to be joining forces with Pandora, a company that shares our passion for making live entertainment a bigger part of people’s lives.

Thanks for all of your continued support.

    Cheers!

Seems a bit of an odd pairing though, doesn't it? No overlap between the two businesses, and not even any "synergy" (hate that word!) between the companies.

A matter of perspective. One could argue that at the end of the day, they both do the same thing--turning data around music discovery/consumption into actionable information that allows for the precise creation of digital/physical products and experiences for music fans. The underlying learnings are valuable to both companies, not to mention all of their affiliated partners...from venues to advertisers to record labels to film studios. Many artists in the current landscape look to both recorded music and live performance as revenue streams, so the value in looking for "synergy" in the data sets is compelling.
