Picked up this double disc (the Nearfest set) in Montreal this weekend at HMV for $10. 2014 U.K. release. Fantastic sound. Never acquired the DVD so can't compare audio quality. How did I miss this release? Was it released domestically (in the US?)

The ORIGINAL title was "Nektar, Greatest Hits Live" ... somewhat presumptuous as there were so few "hits"... however, this double CD was originally released late in 2002 by Classic Rock productions and it was indeed the 2002 Nearfest show in the right order and was a remarkably good production considering it was the first time we'd ALL played live together in 24 years.
Of all the Nektar live releases, this is definitely up there as one to have... especially for ten bucks!
The full original line-up WITH Larry Fast, plus Scott Krenz on percussion and Maureen + Michelle (our back up singers with the reunion band during 02 & 03)....
BTW, Marvelous Moses was a killer, but it was cut from the first release, is it on the new one?

unfortunately not Mick. But I was at the show and it was indeed killer.
I wish the video was still available....

^ My $0.02: Get rid of that interviewer! Her looks & gender got her the gig; other than that, no talent. I say fire the person who hired her.

Here's another .02 cents worth: I was at the show and was really looking forward to Nektar along with Hackett,
Caravan, Miriodor etc. About 30 minutes into the concert, myself and about 60 other people left the theater as
the sound was SO FUCKING LOUD, I thought I was going to have permanent hearing damage. Absolutely BRUTAL!
There were(if I remember correctly) 3 entrances at the front and as we all came out, everybody had a really perplexed
kind of "what the fuck?" look on their faces. Hopefully the CD has better sound but it's definitely not a great memory.
We are the grandchildren of apes, not angels
But only we are gifted with the eyes to see
On days without FEAR, when our heads are clear
That angels, we could be

The CD & DVD were great sounding.
My only wish was/is that the entire concert, as performed, was presented.

Yea, I don't remember Nektar being any louder than any other concert I go to. But then I always wear earplugs for concerts, unless it's acoustic music.
As for Porcupine Tree, as I recall, it was said at the time that they were so loud it actually damaged some of the lights in the house lighting rig at Zoellner. I believe it was said that was one of the reasons they went to Trenton for those two years.
