Do they have a song called "Porcupine Tree"?

Band has changed their name apparently after a falling out with their label (GEP). I think they are now called Kyros.

"Synaesthesia", while being an evocative name, would have been a difficult one to manage, with all the potential misspellings as well as possible legal implications from other bands or other organisations using the word. "Kyros" is better in some ways, but does it mean anything, or is it just a made up word?

Finally, we’d like to announce our biggest change. The EP also signals the transitional phase we are going through as a band including our name change from ‘Synaesthesia’ to ‘KYROS’.

There are a number of reasons behind our decision, including marking a new era as the debut album started life as a studio project between Adam Warne, Nikolas Jon and Giant Electric Pea. That project has evolved so much and now that we are now a full band with a stable line up for the new album, we feel that the name change would best represent that.

Along the way, we have also encountered problems regarding other bands using the name ‘Synaesthesia’, as well as additional legal implications, so we had to make a change to help us move forward.
There are already 4 or 5 other bands named Synaesthesia.

I think there may have been a sixth one, because i'm pretty sure I read about a band with that name in Relix back in the early 90's. As I recall, their guitarist was fond of playing with a rag soaked in acid rapped around his forehead, thus he was given the nickname "Acid In Your Eyes".

Andy Summers has an album with that title.

First album was great. It was produced by Mike Holmes of IQ. If there was a falling out between the band and Mike or the label, I'm a little concerned about the direction the band is going for the second album.

You don't need to worry about the new album! As was demonstrated on the recent Spock's Beard tour around Europe Kyros have some new material which will astound you! Remember this is a young band brimming with new ideas and enthusiasm - and they don't want to retread their heroes music of the past. The new music is high energy but melodic with some very proggy twists!

Kyros was a Greek gladiator who survived many years - unlike most of his peers. I don't think it was chosen for that reason though!

There is a short video on Vimeo of Kyros on their recent support of Spock's Beard around Europe that will demonstrate several of the brilliant new songs on the forthcoming album Vox Humana

Just search the name under progressive rock genre. Here is a link, I don't know how long it will last.

Kyros(formerly synaesthesia) has been announced for the 2017 version of Rosfest too in case anyone didn't get that memo.

I did not realize it was the same band. Very cool!

Yeah, I didn't realize that the band name had changed (or else I forgot). Listening to Cloudburst now, and it's really cool! I quite liked the first CD, from what I recall. Need to go back and revisit it.
