    Yugen

I think I saw them mentioned here on an RIO page... not sure.

I love Dave Kerman's playing so naturally this one is resonating bigtime with me... really awesome.

Udi? You did work on this one right?

Kerman only guests With them once in a while, if I'm not mistaken.

But yes, they're an amazing ensemble for sure. Iridule contains some of the densest material this side of Zappa's 80s synclavier pieces - though performed. I really like their album of Tommaso Leddi Works as well.

    But challenging as hölle...

on all this. Iridule is one of my favorite latter-day prog/Italian/challenging/whatever you want to consider it/awesome albums.
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

I couldnt find how much Dave K plays on this one. Sounds like him on a fair amount of it. Anyway... now I need to pull out Ahvak and give that another listen.

I'm a big Yugen fan, Iridule is probably their best, it has a lot of Thinking Plague guests as well. The Leddi one connects with me less so that Iridule and the debut. The live album is also excellent. Can't wait for the next one.

I also rather like the Empty Days side project. A bit mellower, but still quite enjoyable.

No, Dave does play on the last two tracks of "Iridule" (that's 14 minutes total).

Ah... cool. I was going to ask which ones and those two sounded suspicious. Excellent playing across the board though. Iridule is really good.

There's this track on Iridule which would always fuck up my former CD-player, this for reasons I could never really grasp - seeing how these are digital formats. But the sheer compression of sonic impression and audio activity somehow appeared to play a part in it, as I've experienced similar "reactions" with that stupid machine when exposing it to stuff like Zs and Stevan Tickmayer. Very strange...

I really like the Yugen offshoots containing Sr. Paolo Botta, especially Ske, Not A Good Sign and his work on Homunculus Res. He has run off with their ideas, sensational technique and most of their humor.

Interesting analogy, also sans the Dave K. reference, as they both sorta fit in a 'post-Plague' soundworld; there's that obvious debt to more band-based or through-composed "song-form" RIO music (HCow, Art Bears, Science Group et al.), but also to certain aspects of more overtly "classic prog" stylings as found in the more experimental aspects of KC, ELP, Yes etc.

That Ahvak lbum is such a scorching listen. Dave steams on it, and Udi's input becomes as integral as the "instrumental" work there.

Oh man did I forget about how some of that Ahvak album sounded. It is indeed a scorching listen. Glad I pushed it into my ears today!
