    Bon Lozaga: Traces Of Chaos

I hadn't heard about the Indiegogo-campaign for Bon Lozaga's new album at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/b...d-drive#/story

Unfortunatelly the funding didn't make its goal.

Fortunatelly the album will be released after all on September 15th, as people may have seen in the Abstract Logix-email: http://www.abstractlogix.com/xcart/p...roductid=26281

Too bad this didn't get any play here at PE while the campaign was still going... but nice to see the album is out. I liked Bon's work with Gong and Gongzilla quite a lot.

Got the CD yesterday and for those who love his old albums: this is in the same vein!

I love his groovy jazz-rock approach, with a bluesy lick here and some heavy touches there. But always subtle and with great players.

For those who love the compositions from Mahavishnu Orchestra, but don't really like John McLaughlin's guitar style track 4 of this album might be interesting: Can't Stand The Funk is a fresh cover of the MO-album Visions Of The Emerald Beyond.
All other tracks are originals, written by Lozaga and two songs co-written by Ryan Martinie, the bass-player on three tracks.

doesn't he have another solo album... I thought I might have one by him???
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

He has "Bon" (1996) and two Project Lo's ("Dabblings in Darkness", 1995 and "Black Canvas", 1997) that I know of.

There are two releases by Bon:

Full Circle - Coming Home (1993)
    http://www.discogs.com/BON-Full-Circ...elease/2882016

    To The Bone (1996)
    http://www.discogs.com/Bon-To-The-Bone/release/4058778

Both feature Hansford Rowe on bass and Vic Stevens on drums, plus guests. I like both of them a lot.

There's apparently also this, which I've never seen or heard:

There's also a kind of compilation with two new tracks: Two Plus Two, but I haven't got that one.

There was also an EP, Tiny, which was suppossed to be released under the name Bon, but was later called Tiny Boxes.

    Here's a nice innerview with Anil: http://www.innerviews.org/inner/lozaga.html

Thanks for that innerviews link. I had never heard of the Tiny Boxes EP, and it doesn't look like it's available anywhere. I haven't bought the new one yet and I still have to track down Gongzilla's last one, Five Even, some day, as well.

Btw, Bon attended the Aristocrats show in Raleigh this past August. I was hoping to chat with him after the show but he must have left before it ended.

I just looked him up on Facebook, he's doing a show as a trio called "Soften the Glare" in Raleigh on Oct 29, I'll plan on attending that. I think he lives in NC, I should be better connected to what he's up to.

To get the whole picture the old Lolo Records-site is still informative: http://www.lolorecords.com/

Since Bon has more or less a thread of his own: Making Faces bt his new band Soften The Glare was just released. Great mix of funky, groovy jazz-rock and more atmospheric stuff.
