Hi Rene; thanks again for buying my album !! - Like the AH road games posts.......I actually saw that band live at 'The Bottom Line' In NYC 2 shows really amazing AH, JB, Chad W - PW - was it 1982 0r 3 - around this time of year if I recall - I was a 16 year old kid then so it made a big impression on me !! DRUMS!!! maybe the superest power trio ever?

I saw that band too; it was the first time I saw Holdsworth live. I've seen him about a half dozen times since.
I have some vague recollection of Allan mentioning that the reason he and Berlin parted ways was that Chad Wackerman didn't like playing with him. Allan definitely likes playing with Chad, so I guess he had to choose. I've been in that situation before; sometimes you can get two great musicians together who don't feel the beat the same way and one feels like they have to compromise the way they play in order to lock with the other. It happens; no matter how great two players may seem to you as a listener, they have to be on the same page with one another... or it's not fun.
Another update, this time especially for those who want some information on the gear Jeff sells for this campaign: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/...bruce/updates/
Because this thread is been read 3x as much as the original post here's the same post I added in that one:
According the email from Moonjune the guest-list looks like this at the moment:
Ginger Baker on drums
Chad Smith on drums
Dennis Chambers on drums
Paul Shaffer on Hammond organ
Allan Holdsworth on guitar
Joe Satriani on guitar
Ron Thal 'Bumblefoot' on guitar
Nick Moroch on guitar
With just 10 days to go Jeff posted a lesson about playing the track "Joe Frazier", known for the Bruford-album "Gradually Going Tornado" and (round 2) his solo-album "Pump It!"

Jeff has posted a new lesson, this time going into Carpal Tunnel: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/.../updates/61034
I noticed he has added three more months to the end-date, so there are 90 days left now to raise another 56%. There are already more than 300 pledgers!
Those who want to know which songs Jeff is going to cover for this project should watch the new update-video:
http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/.../updates/61983
This should be funded by now. Please help out.
Funny that Allan Holdsworth has a video from Jeff's pledge on his own pledge-site: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/...sworth/updates
But who knows, maybe the many fans of Allan will join Jeff's pledge too, if only to hear Allan in one or two tracks.
"I am also excited to announce that we have forged a label relationship with guitar legend Steve Vai’s Favored Nations label. Also exciting is that Steve might contribute his extraordinary guitar talents to this recording!!" (from the latest update).
This Pledge is still active and as you can see on http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/...playsjackbruce there are some new items, while the cover of the album has been published too:

I snagged a little promo of this at the Mark Bass booth at NAMM. Jeff was hanging out there, but I didn't get a chance to talk to him. I did get to talk to Frank Gambale, get a photo with him and an autograph. Also talked briefly with Andy Timmons. Greg Howe was also hanging out there. All a bit surreal. Like Myron Cohen said, Everyone's got to be someplace.

Seems the recording of this tribute has finally started: https://www.pledgemusic.com/projects...kbruce/updates
I guess from the original idea, with Holdsworth doing some solo's, will not come much, unless there are some recordings left somewhere...
This takes ages, but who knows there's an end to the waiting this year
I pledged when it was first announced. I hope It doesn’t take anymore years.

The problem with PledgeMusic (and it's also a good thing) is that you can cancel your preorder, so the amount of funds available for a project can be constantly changing. I guess the projects ideally should move quickly - obviously this one hasn't!
Here's a video-message from Jeff about the Pledge-situation (shot at the same place David Sancious shot his video)

Nice news: Alex Lifeson has recorded a solo for this album!
