Thinking Plague tour Texas in January

Thinking Plague are hoping to play a few shows in Texas in early January.

One show is confirmed in Austin, for January 9, with the very fine Stop Motion Orchestra and you can buy tickets for this show here:

    http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2125685

They also hope to play San Antonio, Dallas / Fort Worth, Denton and hopefully Houston.

This will all take place between January 6-11.

We all hope that those who are interested take advantage of this rare opportunity and help spread the word. Thank you from all of us.

I'm hoping that the dates work out so that I can make the drive south and catch 1-2 shows.

I've been talking to a couple people responsible for the gig here in Austin to get a good push for more interest in Houston, DFW and San Antonio too. Drummin' up all the frenzy we can! They deserve to be heard by far more than I suspect will actually show up. At $10 a ticket... how the hell can you even deny this group in your ears????!!

and the only cowboy songs I can tolerate would come from TP. lol

The lure of needing to wash your hair that very night and then later posting on PE "I missed them, but I read it was great. When will they be back?", is always strong!

All country swing, actually. Possibly some in alternating metres (11/8, 15/ 16, 4/4, 9/8, 7/16, etc)
And the code is a play, a play is a song, a song is a film, a film is a dance...

No, just this one epic rendition of ol' Grandpa Jones' major work from 1951. Being all ardent card-holders of the McCarthy'ian Trump'eter Bush'man faction of the US formal True wing party, Mike J. (actually an acronym for Grandson Jones) has taken upon him for the band to arrange this timeless anthem into a sorta expressionist abstraction on complete form. Here in the raw:

"Improvisation is not an excuse for musical laziness" - Fred Frith
"[...] things that we never dreamed of doing in Crimson or in any band that I've been in," - Tony Levin speaking of SGM

Looks like we'll be in Houston on Jan. 7th, at Rudyard's. No other details at present. Stayed tuned at the TP FB page: https://www.facebook.com/Thinking-Pl...?ref=bookmarks , the Cuneiform "tours" page, or Steve's 'Cuneiform bands on tour' postings on PE.

Why did my mind jump from "Thinking Plague Plays Texas" to "The Sex Pistols Play Atlanta"?

I live in Austin, but don't know this band. Care to post a YT link that would give me a good idea if I would like them?

FANTASTIC live band. Do you like Schoenberg? They sort of make me think of what his rock band would sound like.
