I want this but it depends on the price.
To me the gold disc still sounds the best.
Deja Vrooom on Blu Ray makes it a nobrainer though. That DVD convinced me that this band was for me

She was gold alright, but then so is rust.
"Such a shame about the beard."
There'll be a single cd/dvd edition coming out at the same time - that'll do me.
I love KC and I DO want to get this...however, If I get even ONE MORE KC CD, I'm afraid that my CD shelves will come crashing down from the weight of my KC CD's.
next up is a 72 discs boxset of the Earthbound album
==========
As much as I appreciate Thrak, no thanks.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.
And here my thought was "I wish they'd stick to DVD and not bother with the Blu-rays." The video quality of DVD is plenty, I couldn't care less about any more sharpness, and at least my PC can read those and rip the audio if I want it on its own.
I wouldn't have thought of it either. I suppose it's one place where people can listen while sitting still in one spot (I rarely do that anywhere else), but it's also no good for listening and concentrating. Well, maybe if you're a passenger.
Well, it's only got one disc more than the Larks box.
There isn't. The closest thing is the NYC material, but it looks like it doesn't exactly overlap with the Broadway set they used for the Club selection (though it's not clear how much or little overlap there is). Maybe that's the reason there's another full previously-unreleased set from '95 in addition.
I want to dynamite your mind with love tonight.
Yeah, I preordered from BS. Always reliable, even shipping over here in the states.
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

hmmm do i want a free pillow with purchase of thrak shirt...
The pillow is a good bonus, as it gives your significant other a place to bury their face & sob quietly as you spend more time with the box than with them

There's just enough in this box for me to grab it I think. I do really like this album and the live renditions of the 80's songs, just wish they had mixed things up a little more.
Oh dear, at that price I can feel an itch coming on that is going to need scratching

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

That is what I thought this box would actually be--the best shows from the tour that were *not* yet released on physical disc. And for < $150 I would have been in for that for sure.
But instead we get mostly stuff I (and several of you, based on your posts) already have. Mexico City from Vroom Vroom, probably most of "Broadway". The KCCC Vroom sessions disc, a lot of B'boom if I'm reading the description correctly. And two remasterings of an album I have liked the sound of just fine for 20 years.
So I'm out. Not without regrets...
I bought one or two of those digital bundles too so I am kinda happy it is a little more small scale so I don't feel like I am buying them over again. not that having them on cd would be bad but I think one cd show from various points in the tour is ok (though lack of b'boom on cd in the set becomes apparent if thinking in that way)
That's why I haven't grabbed a whole load of live Double Trio gigs... but it's also why I enjoy it so much when they do collections of improvs from otherwise samey shows.
It looks like you're a bit off there. B'Boom is included in stereo on the Blu-ray but that's it. All the live stuff is from '95 and '96. I agree that more repetition of Broadway seems unnecessary, but it's good stuff (and we don't know how much is exactly repeated from the earlier releases). Vrooom Vrooom also only had one disc from Mexico City. I was always impressed by how ferocious they got by '96 and wouldn't mind finally hearing that in full.
I'm in for the upcoming CD/DVD-A version of THRAK. Two questions, are DGM considering releasing the Blu-Ray from the THRAK Box separately? Also, what about the long-promised 5.1 edition of BEAT?
If the past is any indication, don't count on it.
Other and bigger things keep getting in the way. Robert and Steven were doing at least some of the mixing ages ago (around the same time as Discipline IIRC), but there's been no word for a long time. When they were announcing last year's reissues, one of the announcements said that Beat had been pushed back to 2015. Obviously Thrak took precedence, so.... maybe next year since it won't have any big anniversary, I suppose. Also, what about the long-promised 5.1 edition of BEAT?
Actually, a quick look around the diary also turned up a mention of Beat from this past March. It seems close to ready at least.
