Yeah, thanks. Not sure I hear Rush in them at all - not that I'd mind it!

Cool that they're doing those European dates.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

Saw the band on Saturday at a secret gig in Boston where they were filming the new album, same venue as I saw Gutbucket last year, only about 20 invited guests. They played the whole of the new album, sounds like really strong stuff, couple of really high energy bouncy tracks with the band going full tilt plus a couple of slower numbers, nice variety. Had to look round 4 cameramen who were in the bands faces all night but a really excellent night.

There's an upcoming release - again already? And why were they filming it? "Intimate live performance" kinda promo thing, or are they intending to make a live-in-the-studio sorta album? Do you know?

Yes there's a new album coming. They put up of live footage from the last album (I was at that recording as well), and released it as an album for download only well after the official album release. It was one of those live in the studio type albums. As an audience we were very quiet during the recording and only applauded when prompted.

Saw them tonight playing an acoustic set, Courtney on piano, Ben on acoustic guitar, Gavin without drumsticks. Very good sound, I liked it.

Not kidding - what does a drummer do without sticks - did he just use his hands on the traps?

Bonham did in "Moby Dick", and Frosty (Lee Michaels' drummer) did as well on an early live album.

Used his hands on the tom, foot on bass drum, didn't use cymbals at all.

I can't stop listening to "Holy Ghost". What a killer track! These guys are at the top of the heap of today's bands, and Courtney is an absolute star IMO. In a perfect world, they would achieve the success they richly deserve.

New album can't arrive soon enough!

Did they play the song Land Animal at ProgDay? It sounds so familiar.

I have a review copy of Land Animal for a feature I'm writing, and let me just say: You guys are not going to be disappointed in this new album. I will be giving it a glowing review!

Okay, so Land Animal is album of the year for me at this point. If that changes by year's end, I expect it to still be top 3. These songs have all worked their way into my memory, much as the last two albums did... but this one could well be their best yet. Just outstanding!

I Interviewed Courtney this morning and she was absolutely lovely. Articulate, warm and enthusiastic. Was nice to hear some tidbits about certain songs I've always wondered about too!
