Well it's more a melodic instrument, but the start of the demo sounds a bit to new age for my taste. I suppose one could play faster stuff.
Downloaded the bass, but I got some message. It seems to work in Cubase, but I don't have the possibility to use is without it. Is there a difference between de several download sites?
I don't think so...if memory serves I downloaded it directly from AmpleSound. It might only be a VST and not a standalone app, but you can download a free VST host if you want to play with it alone.

It takes a bit to get used to the host interface but once you have it working, it's great. Plus, you can do a cool trick: make a copy of the Nanohost EXE file, put it in the same directly as the VST DLL file, rename the EXE to the same name as the DLL, and you have an executable standalone version of your VST
Example: I have a VST called MySynth (64).dll. I copy NanoHost.exe to the same directory and rename it to MySynth (64).exe. Now when I click on the EXE it automatically loads up my VST in the wrapper.

It looks like downloading from their site is only for the paid software and the trial versions. The free software is offered on plugins4free, reverb (not the Cloudrum) and pluginboutique (for that one you need to log in).
I like the bass, though I don't understand all the ins and outs with the keyboard. But well, the light version offers less possibilities and the manual seems to be for the full version.

Don't know when I will use any of it. The current piece I'm working on is very much keyboard-based. Two organs (Arturia B3 and Nord Electro), 2 pianos (Arturia) 2 polyphonic synthesizers (Arturia CS80 and Arturia Jup 8), probably 2 monophonic synthesizers (Arturia Mini and Arturia SEM) and probably some other stuff, sampler, Waldorf Blofeld, Nord G2 Engine and Yamaha TX81Z.
Downloaded the Cloudrum, which has some interesting sounds. Don't skip it just because you have enough percussion.
Weird thing keeps the stand-alone thing. It works, but it's a bit weird in the start-menu, which seems to replace one, with another. Trying to put them in the side-panel, gives me 2 out of 3. If I try to add the bass-guitar, I get the message it's already there.
But well, it works in Cubase, so not much to worry about. I don't really get the strumming thing with the guitar.

For the most part, this is my philosophy as well (though I don't do the CD-R thing). Many of us make music simply because we find the whole process enjoyable. If some people discover something to like in it, fantastic! ... but we'll keep on making it even if they don't.
I would enjoy releasing hard copies and being on Shitify but the problem is that would be being in the music industry, tee hee. No thanks. did that. Worse. These days everyone paying to play or be paid.
So instead I continue to do tracks and albums that I may enjoy making and listening to.
I also try to keep live chops maintained which is really impossible when you ain't playing out or gigging, but hopefully that will change in the future

I keep making music, though I'm more or less suffering from a writers block. At least this gives me time to explore a trial-version of Cubase Pro 12. It has some interesting new stuff, compared with Cubase Pro 8 I'm currently using.
I have 2 albiums in the making. One is more classical orientated, for which I need to create one more piece. Started the whole thing in 2019 and stopped in 2020, because there were some problems with the last piece I was working on. Adding controller-information resulted in a file-size the computer could not really handle. This year I removed the controller-information and completed the piece, with some other instruments (basicly I replaced some softsynths from Arturia, with simular models from Cherry Audio).
The other album will be more rock, or electronic orientated, perhaps a bit in the line with my last album 'Annus horibilis', which was sold twice on Bandcamp. It was pay if you want, so I'm happy 2 people decided to spend money on it, while they didn't have to. I would do Spotify, if I knew how. Not to make money, but to get my music heard.
Live chops I don't have. If (and it is a very big if) I have one talent, it is composing, not playing.
I've found a wonderful group of musicians on BandLab that I collaborate with on a regular basis. We've done many originals and collaborations as well as solo work. Each person I encounter there has their strengths and weaknesses and genre's that they shine in, myself included. Although most of BandLab is hip-hop and rap and pop - there are still plenty of rockers and bluesers and jazz heads and classicalizers to have fun with. None of it is for money for me. I get a kick out of the people who enjoy what I do and to hear what they have to say musically as well.
Here's one I just put out after going through a bit of a late summer doldrums thing. I got a little inspiration that I hope will carry on into something else new.

Working on a new composition. Started working on that some time ago, but at some point I had a writersblock, so I stopped and became busy with studieing the possibilities of Cubase 12 Pro. Working goes very, very slowly. Piece is written for: viola, cello, French horn, piano, Cherry Audio Memorymode and Arturia Solina stringensemble. A lot of timesignature changes: 4/4, 5/4, 6/4, 7/4, 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, 6/4, 7/4, 13/8
