I actually have some hope for this show again. The first two episodes of the second half of the season have been pretty good.

I had made a conscious decision to stop watching the show after that last 1/2 season. I skipped the season opener last week. But, I was not feeling well on Sunday and with nothing better to do I reluctantly watched the first 2 of the new season, and generally found them good, in particular the 2nd one seemed to be on target.
The first one was wayyyyy drawn out drama with Carl, but I definitely enjoyed the second. Probably liked it better than all of last season. Cmon...that grinder scene was terrific!

Agreed. 100%!
At one point in the first episode, I actually said to the TV, "Jesus, Carl, just fucking die already."
One complaint I have, aside from the many I don't post about anymore, is the way they break up the stories. For instance, I recall very little about the episode where Aaron & Enid went to the all woman camp. So when they revisited that story this week, I couldn't remember wtf happened.

Is it me, or is this season getting better? Thought last night's episode was another good one. Good fight between Rick and Negan, fire zombies, good Simon stuff... It's like the writing and pacing is back on track.
It has been really up and down. I agree, last night's episode kept my interest and I enjoyed it for the most part (although that is the 2nd time this season Negan has been point blank in front of a machine gun and has not gotten shot). The episode the week before, was not so good.
It was pretty good! Still a lot of eye rolling, but it satisfied on the whole. Way better than the A season where I was ready to throw in the towel. I love Simon! Cracks me up.

I ran across a video on YouTube about why so many people have quit watching TWD. I didn't watch it but some of the comments are hilarious, like this one:
I stopped watching because that group of people and their idiot leader hanging in rural Atlanta for 8 seasons. Go to an island or something you morons, at least go to Canada, people are nicer over there right? Even Canadian zombies would ask your permission before taking a bite. But nooo that fuckin Rick can't leave his precious Atlanta.

I gave up nitpicking this show awhile back but I just have to point this out: toward the end of this week's episode, someone complimented Maggie for her strategy in "saving the gate." Earlier, however, when some Savior trucks entered the Hilltop compound a school bus was driven into their path, one of them crashing into the bus, to stop their progress.
Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't backing the bus up to the gate have saved the gate as well? Instead, the strategy was to open the gate letting the enemy into Hilltop.
Once Negan's gone, I am as well. And if he isn't dead by the end of the season...

So the epic hour and 15 minute ep last night means regular show + 15 mins of extra commercials on top of the commercials.

Oh, and the Eugene escape? Give me a fucking break. Ummm, fat guy, piles of ashes outside the gate within seconds....no need to kick some piles, he’s long gone.
