Thread: Worst Prog album cover

  1. #1

    Worst Prog album cover

Was just thinking; epic music, great musicianship, massively popular; but all let down by questionable artwork.

My number one spot has to be ELP's Tarkus closely followed by Trilogy

    Genesis - self-titled
Yes - Big Generator (90125 is not much better)
    Porcupine Tree - In Absentia
David Bedford - The Odyssey. For a theme as rich as this, he could have come up with something better than a head shot.

I don't think the cover of Tarkus is that bad, it has to be better than Love Beach.

The original cover for Utopia's ANOTHER LIVE is so bad, it's good. I wish they hadn't changed it for the CD version. An awful cover should stay awful!

CAN"S FUTURE DAYS is one with a bad cover that doesn't reflect the awesome grooves within.

Not as bad as the above, but definitely in the running:

Not an actual album cover, but takes the cake on the "crotch" award:http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/arc...from-labyrinth

Odd that Yes is responsible for some of the best (all Roger Dean efforts) album covers and some of the worst:

    Big Generator
    Tormato
    90125
    Going For The One

But few thing in life are this bad:

I'm not that fond of the Duke cover, but it has a certain abstract charm, as does invisible Touch. And I will brook no criticism of the GFTO cover.A perfect juxtaposition of man as a creature of nature, vs man''s artificial environment that he has created for himself.

All these YES covers and no one's nominated TALK yet?

I will. Peter max, that is one half-assed piece of worthless shit you turned in.

(Unlike many fans, I do like the album itself though.)

As for GftO, I like the basic idea, but it's those various tube-things flying around everywhere that don't seem to have any purpose or meaning that throw me off.
