It’s nice to see Voivod’s Astronomy Domine get a mention.
The Pink Floyd original is such a monumental song/ production, for me at least that while I don’t necessarily prefer Voivod’s version, I like it just as much.
What really gets me is how, despite remaining pretty faithful to the Floyd arrangement, it somehow sounds completely Voivodian...as if it were one of their own compositions.
Their getting a few of the lyrics wrong only adds to the appeal.
Apologies if I’ve posted something similar earlier on this thread (I haven’t checked, but it seems likely)...it’s always the first song I think of when talking about good covers.
Linda Ronstadt - Blue Bayou.
Always seemed like this song was written just for her voice
Joe Cocker seems to have stolen any number of songs that I prefer to the originals, like "The Letter", "With a Little Help From My Friends" and "Delta Lady".
And then there's...
"And your little sister's immaculate virginity wings away on the bony shoulders of a young horse named George who stole surreptitiously into her geography revision."
