This thread has been dormant for a while so I thought maybe I could kick it alive again, just so that you add more great recommendations on it. For my part, I would recommend Nyeusi, a new band I just discovered. Main man is drummer extraordinaire Justin Brown. One track from their album:

The Bandcamp page for the band is here.

Finally, a live set from the Boiler Room in NY:

I am not 100% sure the music would qualify as minimalistic jazz but then I feel that this thread has other recommendations in the same vein.

I posted a link to a video by Graham Costello's Strata in the Jazz Discussion thread, but it may actually be more appropriate here. Whilst the serialist patterns of groups like Ronin are the foundation for the band's distinctive groove, there's also more of a "big band" dimension to their music, coming from the trombone & sax combo.

They have a new album out in a couple of months, but the above link takes you to their excellent debut ep.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

Nice! Good to see Steve’s quote there too.

Thanks for the heads up for this Ian. I took a listen on Bandcamp, & immediately bought Molecules as well as Depart - & I'm really liking what I'm hearing!

I like the production on these records - there's a real depth in the mix, which grounds the wide spaces that have been created for the five instruments. There are some comparisons with Nik Baertsch, & whilst these aren't wholly off the mark, I think the music here is less overtly "minimalist" than, say, Ronin. What it shares with Baertsch's work is a real focus on the texture of sounds, but the extra space in the music allows for a freer approach to soloing/improvising. I've been particularly grabbed by the tone of the sax, which has an affecting warmth & immediacy.

    One Did
    by Prescott

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prescott is the brainchild of former Stump bassist, Kev Hopper. Hopper’s distinctive bass style was one of the most striking elements of Stump’s sound during the 1980s; since then he has produced numerous solo albums and more experimental work with the laptop quartet, Ticklish – but the all-instrumental Prescott signals a halt to Hopper’s, abstract, atmospheric electronica and a return to working with a full band.

They dont come out of jazz either afaIk, but to me this album sounds like a chamber version of Percy Jones crossed with ZNR Barricade 3.
Its all about small sounds and changes, and there is a part of improvisation to it. imo.

As Ikarus was mentioned here, thought you might be interested in a chat I had with Ramón Oliveras, drummer and main composer of the band. Some interesting thoughts and a review of Mosaismic.

I don't either, but I sometimes think of them as Thelonious Monk's prog band.

As for Hundrum, it's on regular rotation in the car and of course I love it.
Playing it now for the second time and I really like it.

This one is one rotation for me with the new Ghost Rhythms (& the new John Coltrane!) - both are, I think, superb.
