    5) Il Castello Di Atlante

A Lot of spectacularly good bands, as I rate them, left off of both groups. Especially the 70s list.
Some interesting facts on those band:

All but the number 3 bands from both lists still exist (in the case of Semiramis just hardly though)

all other bands from the post 70s list are just recording a new album as does Banco from the 70s list.

^ Thanks for the info Mr. H!

Can't believe that after all this time we'll see a new Ezra Winston release. They seemed to have some momentum at the time, and then....fizzle. They stopped.

(I know that Il Castello di Atlante was still going recently, because I saw them live in Milwaukee a few years ago.)

I'm a Le Orme lover now. Have smog, canto, Uomo and felona. Up there with banco and goblin. Maybe I'll get a couple more pfm while I'm on an italian kick

Thanks @TheH - that is quite a list, and some great new stuff!

I have to add Accordo Dei Contrari to that list.

The recent Alpha Taurus / Cherry 5, and Museo Rosenbach are all worth picking up for any self-respecting RPI fan

Think ültra-refined, through-composed RIO-meets-Canterbury merged with the most dense aspects of Änglagård's music. It's all instrumental but utterly stunning.
I agree 100% with these statements. I always go back and review "1000 Autunni" with great delight.

That list could easily be expanded to top 40 or 50 if you add on it bands such as Moogg, Gatto Marte, London Underground, Distillerie di Malto, Calomito, Fonderia, Zaal, Allegri Leprotti, Pandora, I Treni All'Alba, Magnetic Sound Machine, Slivovitz, Il Ruscello, Nodo Gordiano, Breznev Fun Club, Syndone, Akt, Lagartija, FEM Prog Band, Barock Project and Homunculus Res.

Luckily for us, RPI lovers, it never ends. Just look at the debut by La Fabbrica dell' Assoluto. Assolutamente fantastico!!!

It was intended to be a Top 5 list at first, then I got carried away.

There are easily another 30 Albums who I could have listed as Top 30.

I think I could do a Top 100 without Problems (without any filler stuff)

I have 6 le orme albums now. Top band. I already have good collections of goblin and banco. I also have 4 Pfm albums(English and Italian versions). 1974 is when they were great. Dunno why they would not continue with the same vocalist for chocolate kings though. I'd rate them 4th from these 4 bands

Cool list - gives me a few titles to track down, titles that are currently missing from my collection. Interesting that you rate "Misteriosevoci" ahead of "Rebus".

I hate to have to add a rather sad note to this thread, but the OP, ProgUK (David Robin) died a couple of months ago.

He was a great friend, husband and father, and a very talented person as one of the best event filmmakers (his list of industry awards is impressive, to say the least) in the country, lecturer and an exceptional drummer with the Steely Dan cover band, Steelyjam.

We were friends for over 20 years and went to many concerts and gigs together (BajaProg, fusion gigs at The Baked Potato, and many, many more).

Seeing this thread rekindled my sadness over the loss.

And if there were a god, I think it very unlikely that he would have such an uneasy vanity as to be offended by those who doubt His existence - Russell
