NAME YOUR BEST PROG ROCK GROUPS BORN AFTER THE 80'S

After the almost demise of the Prog Rock era in the 80's, I was almost disconnected with the music world, with some exceptions. Then Amazon came along and I started again looking and searching for some interesting and challenging music somewhere in the Internet. Thanks to Amazon, I started to read reviews and found new emerging groups in the Prog vein. There are my greatest discoveries since the eighties.

1- Porcupine Tree / Steven Wilson
    2- Gazpacho
    3- Transatlantic
    4- Pineapple Thief
    5- Nick Magnus
    6- Steve Unruh
    7- Kompendium
    8- Unitopia
    9- The Flower Kings
    10- Ayreon

So prog bands that started in the '80s are off limits, then? Because otherwise IQ would be on my list.

    Spock's Beard
    Flower Kings
    Transatlantic
    Astra
    Echolyn
    Anglagard
    Pure Reason Revolution
Godspeed You Black Emperor (if I can count them)

    Let's go with

    Astra
    Phideaux
    Djam Karet
    Opeth
    Future Kings of England

All bands that primarily produce Non-Vocal music (most space rockers) were disqualified from the list (though I actually like them AT LEAST as well )

    Pineapple Thief just missed out.

Porcupine Tree / Steven Wilson would have slot number 6 (but there are some duds in the collected works)

There have been a LOT of cool Avant bands in the period in question, but I put them in their own category.

As I do the Post Rock Bands.

Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?
