Gotcha - and after reading your post again, it could mean something entirely else as well, sorta like "the pieces weren't performed by the band as well as they deserved."
It's a moot point anyway. Given that most UZ albums typically are written about 50% by DD and 50% by other members, it does seem like he encourages the bandmates to compose. Heck, Kurt Bude has some serious writing chops. Straight Edge is clearly the co-centerpiece of Clivages, and Reve Mecanique was probably the top song off of Phosphorescent Dreams.

Its not likely there are Andy Kirk compositions in UZ style left in his locker, waiting to be remembered and recorded. But it would be nice if...
I dont know how much one can read into this from 1996 - but to me it looks like AK and DD are getting on well - http://www.furious.com/perfect/universzero.html
" Through all of this, Daniel continues to march on. His third solo CD is due out soon and he's even pondering the notion of reforming Univers Zero.
"There is a coordination problem with Andy Kirk. He wants to reform as well but has some time limitations. I really miss performing live with Univers Zero, ...our energy was great. It would be good to give people a chance to see this again."
Andy Kirk also played on Daniel Denis – Les Eaux Troubles 1993 (and btw there was no third DD album)
