I don't really know what to make of this...

**Unique performances are what have always set The Newport Folk Festival apart. This summer, another one will be added to the storied history, as ROGER WATERS will headline Friday, July 24th with an intimate appearance specifically crafted for Newport Folk. In what will surely be one for the ages, please welcome to the 2015 line-up ROGER WATERS.**

Nearly all of The Final Cut could pass for Folk
though Rog prolly cant play the Piano well enough to perform TFC by himself
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

    FOLK???

Let him perform by all means, but just rename it to a music festival. If you're going to use a genre label, the label has to actually mean something.

Folk and Jazz festivals always seem to add rock/pop artists to the bill to appeal to wider audiences. Led Zeppelin played the Newport Jazz Festival in '69.

Granchester Meadows would be a nice fit.

If Steven Tyler can go Country, Roger Waters can go Folk.

Same day (July 24) as "Amused To Death" gets re-issued-

"Mother", "Breathe", "WYWH", "Green Is The Colour", "Free Four" all come to mind too.

    I read 'build a wail'.

    Also applicable.

I can actually picture this given some of the floyds earlier output. I'd bet it would be better than expected.

The idiots at Newport complained about Bob Dylan back in 1966.

So, how in the hell are they gonna justify Roger Waters doing his shtick at the same festival?

That was 50 years ago. A whole different set of idiots these days.

They usually held this event down on the water in front of Fort Adams . . . at least that's where it was when we attended.
