Thread: Stick Men with David Cross - Live CD!!

Picked up the album at the Van Dyck show last Saturday and just finished listening. I've been on a Stick Men binge! The album is very different from the Van Dyck show, both were incredibly good. 3 piece at the Van Dyck was heavier on solos, and had quite a few vocal tracks as well as the Oldfield song. The Midori album shows from last year in Japan are more spacey although there are also more Crimson numbers. Surprisingly not that much overlap between the 2 Japan shows, I really loved the initial soundscapes on both.

The forthcoming studio album Prog Noir should be a good one.

Well, I hope it'll be a lot better than that title. Seriously?

I love all of Midori, but I have to give the edge to the second set despite "Firebird." It's definitely the heavier rocking half and gets big points for "Sartori" especially.

I prefer the soundscapes that open the first set. Seems to me that the band found the sweet spot there and held onto it for the entire show.
The second set IS more intense, but the opening soundscapes are abbreviated, as if time allotment had become more a priority for that show. Maybe they didn't get everything in they wanted on the first set? Whatever, I'm partial to the first.

"Very, very nice," said a man in the crowd,
    When the golden voice appeared.
She was gold alright, but then so is rust.
"Such a shame about the beard."

I love this set. Picked it up (and had it signed (without Cross obviously)) when I saw the band in the Spring.

Still have to grab a copy of Prog Noir. It sounded great live.

I think so. I don't have it either. I'm constantly falling behind.

Thanks. It's good to know I'm not as far behind as I think sometimes.

Huh, and now it says 10/21. Well, I wouldn't have had much time for it this week anyway.
