How many Cardiacs' songs do you know of where the title of another Cardiacs song or album is included the lyrics?

    Well, here are two.

Baby Heart Dirt (OLAITS 1988), includes this verse:

Brave sun shines on me on my own it's for me
As Cold As Can Be In An English Sea which
    Could mean something other.

And in a kind of symmetry the final lyrics on the much earlier, As Cold As Can Be In An English Sea, (Toy World 1981) are:

    It's a Toy World
    It's a Toy World
    It's a Toy World
    It's a Toy World

Which is not only the title of the album it appears on, but also part of the title of a song on the album, namely, Big Noise In A Toy World

"Hope Day" is mentioned in the "coda" of R.E.S. on The Seaside version AND in "In a City Lining" ("The saving up for the hope day...").

My collection of Cardiacs & related bands on CD - official releases only

Dates refer to issue of my copies, which in many cases are not the original release dates. The OR after a date means it is an original release copy of the CD, and so the date is then the correct release date of that album or single.

NB. The missing ALPH numbers are cassettes or vinyl, but that is another post.

I must say I find the alphabetical order of the cat. number prefixes, when placed in a natural order, quite disturbing rather than coincidental.....

Cardiacs ain't prog.....but this seems to fit:

"Math rock is a rhythmically complex, often guitar-based, style of experimental rock and indie rock music that emerged in the late 1980s, influenced by progressive rock bands like King Crimson and 20th century minimalist composers such as Steve Reich. It is characterized by complex, atypical rhythmic structures (including irregular stopping and starting), counterpoint, odd time signatures, angular melodies, and extended, often dissonant, chords."

You and PeterG should write one already, but keep him on a short leash or else it’ll just be one giant list across 250 pages…

In the past & even today I've tried compiling a top 30 & it's too bloody difficult, 'cos I would want to include almost all of certain albums. So instead, how about a fav track from each album - side projects included. But please do it in chronological order. Include live albums and compilations if you want to.

To Go Off and Things (TOI)
    Nurses Whispering Verses (TW)
    Piffol Four Times (Archive)
A Wooden Fish On Wheels (The Seaside)
    That's All (M&MS&MD)
    Big Ship (BS mini-album)
    Is This The Life (RB)
    The Whole World Window (ALMAAHATWWW)
    Tarred & Feathered (Live)
    Arnald (OLAITS)
    Stoneage Dinosaurs (SFS&I)
    Day Is Gone (HB&EB)
As Cold As Can Be In An English Sea (Sampler)
    R.E.S (ATGIAMN)
    Savour (TSESOW)
    Abade (TSN)
    Wireless (STG pt 1)
    Foundling (STG pt 2)
    Hazel (Spratleys Japs)
Wind & Rains Is Cold (Guns)
She is Hiding Behind The Shed (Greatest Hits)
    Jibber & Twitch (GC Vol.I)
A Bus For A Bus On A Bus (GC Vol.II)

Very difficult to choose one from that album as there are about five that I hold equally high.

And of course I'm an odd bird, the evidence in my defence or for the prosecution 1, I'm Irish, thus according to Freud immune to psychoanalysis 2, I have Aspergers/ADD/Dissociative Depersonalization (Derealisation) Disorder/Clinical Depression and Clinical Anxiety/and the remnants of PTSS. But apart from all that I'm fine.

To be honest though I could happily survive forever more on just TW, TS, M&MS&MD, OLAITS, ALMAAHATWWW, SFS&I, and HB&EB.

The Irish are impervious to psychoanalysis? That explains it then! They also must have invented ODD (oppositional defiant disorder).

We only agree on one song: Day Is Gone. Still can’t believe it wasn’t a hit back in the day.

I've just noticed that the double album edition of Special Garage Concerts has the catalogue number the same as vol 2, but with an extra D, ALPH DCD 31.

Sing to God, vol 1, vol 2, and the double all had different ALPH numbers.

Of no real importance, other than it troubles my inner librarian by having number 31 twice.

Any thoughts on Pip as Uncle Dick but Peter Spoilt it having within it the Spider-Man theme, when in real life Spider-man had an enemy called Cardiac?
