Thread: Really spacy synth music?

    Really spacy synth music?

I mean ... *really* spacy. The kinda thing that makes me feel like I'm floating through interstellar space, experiencing the vast expanse of the cosmos.

I know it exists, but I don't think I really own much. I think the closest I can think of is Tangerine Dream or Klaus Schultze, but that's still not quite right. I want to feel those sawtooth waves and atmospheric pads not just expanding my consciousness, but blowing it completely out of the exosphere into the very outer reaches of spacetime itself.

Like, what I really want is to become this cat:

Try some Radio Massacre International. Planets in the Wires for example.

Alpha Trajectory - Sputnik is pretty spacey, too.

I always loved Larry Fast's Synergy albums. Cords and Jupiter Menace in particular.

    How about some early Vangelis?

I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.

Klaus Schulze perhaps. Some old school analog.

This is the Vangelis go-to for really spacy music. My dream is one day to listen to this atop a mountain in the middle of nowhere, staring at the stars.

Jean Michel Jarre's Oxygene or Equinoxe albums are two of my favorites in this genre.

Why not go with the music of the spheres themselves?

I really love this kinda music when I'm in that mood...

Steve Hillage - Rainbow Dome Musick is real good
    also
Michael Hoenig - Departure From The Northern Wasteland
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

I'll deviate slightly from the obvious:

    Gil Melle "The Andromeda Strain"

    Nurse With Wound "Space Music"

    Seti "Signals"

Maybe try a little Stomu Yamashta's "Go" or "Go Too"

And here's a video a guy named Tasos made for me of a different track from my improvisational/electronic/ambient album SINGULARITY:

RIP Dockstader...definitely a great pick, walt

Coma Virus is another possibility; technically it is a TD side project from Paul Haslinger, but is much more informed by his stuff alongside Lustmord.

    Oh yeah....LUSTMORD!
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

There's spacey program on Philly's WXPN, the website is http://www.xpn.org/xpn-programs/echoes --the host of the program posts here occaisonally, they have various 'best of ' lists, samples etc.

Another program on that same radio station is 'Stars End', you might listen in on the web, I think they broadcast the spacest stuff saturday night 1am -6am.
