I also just played The Clever Use Of Shadows again. Really quite a fine album.
Hired on to work for Mr. Bill Cox, a-fixin' lawn mowers and what-not, since 1964.

Maybe he included Chris Rainbow, who played "air keyboards" on the "Pressure Points" video.

I don't know details, but I recall hearing that Guy and the guitarist on CUoS had a falling out of some sort, and Guy decided to rerecord a lot of those songs with a different guitarist.

Very sad to hear about Guy's passing, chatted with him briefly a few times over the years. I haven't played any of my NM CDs in quite awhile, I'll have to spin one or two this weekend.

Saw Nathan Mahl play for the first time back in 1998 at a tiny campus bar (basically a converted classroom) in Hull. I think there were 8 of us in the audience including the two non-prog friends I dragged to the show with me. Met Guy several times after that at concerts or at his house to buy CDs. Had not heard he was ill. Very sad news .
I had heard once that he was ill, then enough time passed that I forgot any details. So I think everyone was surprised.

^^^ Seemed like a long time but in reality it was not even 2 years since he was diagnosed. Cancer is a mother fucker, takes no prisoners. I thought for sure he would beat it, but succumed as too many do. There has to be a better way of dealing with this shit. Too many lives are being lost and the stats prove that this is a disease that has only become more previlant recently. It can be attributed to many things all of which lead to our 'modern lifestyles'. It was not such a problem until recently (the past 40 or so years). This is one of my biggest fears in life is getting some form of cancer.

OMG, such a terrible terrible news!
I knew him a little bit, had a couple of long long talks in Montreal. He was very nice person and excellent musician. And he was too young to die!

True. My mother succumbed within a year after being diagnosed with cancer to the breast back in '96, at 55. I had a friend who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last June after feeling murky since April/May - he was dead by mid-August. Luckily he came back from his exile in Spain on suspecting illness, but I hardly only reached his bedstay by bus an afternoon, then went back to Oslo to go to work - and then got the news that he was gone. It was almost too brief to even grieve, to put it like that. The guy had even left the radio on in his kitchen when being rushed to hospital with acute pains, and I just stood outside listening to it, thinking how bizarre that he'd never even come home to turn the damn thing off.

Man, Guy is gone now, He was one artist that always captivated my attention, since discovering the Nathan Mahl CUOS album, his cds were always an autobuy for me, my personal experiences with a brain tumor have left me especially heartfelt towards those who have their personal struggles with these complicated medical issues. Looks as though I should have a personal listening dedication for his most excellent output, I do recall his losing a spouse/loved one? and yet he tarried on. All the best to his family and friends. Life can be short, make sure you are investing your time into whats important.

He augmented the band for that one filmed performance. He wasn't on the rest of the tour. This was a special concert - with ex-members Peter Bardens and Mel Collins sitting in, who also didn't perform on the other dates.

Maybe he wasn't in the band for the whole tour, but I do recall seeing Camel with Richie perform in 1984 in Holland.

I only remember Ton Scherpenzeel,Pete Bardens and Chris Rainbow on this. I bought Total Pressure dvd as I can't stand the "acting" version of Pressure Points.

I guess I'll have to re-check this concert.

So true I lost my Dad a month ago, only two months from diagnosis with pancreatic carcinoma to our goodbye, and an absolutely hellish time for a once super-fit and great man.

I'm sad to hear about Guy, and so pleased I got to see him play at the wonderful Camel reunion Barbican gig. I have never really heard any Nathan Mahl, but will search out and educate myself in tribute.
