Erik Satie-Messe des Pauvres(1895)for church organ and choir

I first heard Satie's Messe des Pauvres on a ECM cd(without the choir).I was transfixed. There was(is) something mysterious and compelling about the work.Over the years i read that more than a few composers felt the same way about it(Stravinsky,Varese,Milhaud,Cage,Messiaen...).

I've come to enjoy and marvel at many of Satie's compositions, but Messe des Pauvres holds a special place. This performance is slower than any other rendition of this work that i've heard, but is,imo, an excellent effort.Enjoy.
