Native Construct - Quirky prog metal w/ Queen/Haken/A.C.T touches

I just found this via a link on Laser's Edge, and man, I fell in love with it from the first song. It starts with bombastic Queen-style harmonies, goes into jazz piano number, then a syncopated vocoder bit, then a Hollywood drama orchestral sequence -- all in the first song. Meanwhile, the guitars and rhythms are powerful and intricate. This kind of variety and experimentation is what I'm into prog for. I definitely recommend it.

… and now getting into the second song, it starts like an eighties Depeche Mode song before hitting its prog metal groove. This is wild stuff.

Mixed by Rich Mouser, so it couldn't sound anything less than great, too.

Subscribing to this so I can listen later. Thanks for the tip, Thomas!

Having now listened to the album twice, I agree.

Also posting that they have replaced Anubis Gate at ProgPower USA. Should be interesting.

I keep getting this band confused with the Kansas offshoot Native Window.
