the thing about most of the answers given is that the food is a metaphor for either drugs or sex.
Sparks - Pineapple
That reminds me of a track I once heard, I think it was on one of those ECM promo discs. It was called "Sex". All it was, was a woman's voice speaking over some kind of synthesised backing, reciting a list of food items that sounded like things on the shelves at a supermarket. There was no mention of sex anywhere in the "song".
Then there's ...

Masato Shimon: “Oyoge! Taiyaki-kun”
A little context:
- A taiyaki is a kind of Japanese waffle-like pastry, made in the shape of a fish and filled with red bean paste or other delicious things (A cart laden with the goodies is wheeled out just before Mr. Shimon sings). Try one, they are very tasty.
- This song tells the tale of a taiyaki escaping his cruel [baker] master, going on an adventure swimming in the ocean only to be hooked by a fisherman and eaten.
- It was originally from the Japanese children’s TV show Ponkickies.
- It is the #1 biggest selling single in Japanese popular music history. Even the Japanese are scratching their heads over why this whimsical kiddie song was SO popular.
- Despite its success, Mr. Shimon earned all of $500 for his participation on the record, lest you think it’s only American record companies that screw over their talent.
