Just picked up Patrick Gauthier - Bebe Godzilla today, not sure it's Zeuhl but it's a hell of an album, as a side note it sent me off exploring Heldon, man here's a band I needed to discover 20 years ago.

2 albums by Heldon are essential for any Prog fans collection
    Stand By
    Interface
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

All of the original seven Heldon albums are awesome.

Yeah, I'm not sure i'd call it zeuhl either, apart from the Weidorje track. The rest of it is kinda like weird fusion stuff. A couple of the tracks push perilously close to "smooooooth jazz", but overall, I happen to like it.

Stand By and Interface are killer from beginning to end
the others are hit and miss; at times great and at other times too noodly

Ian, Heldon is an absolute must. Many will have their favorites (Stand By for me), but you really can't go wrong with any of their albums. And Pinhas' solo Chronolyse is just as good. So there are eight albums to add to your list

An obscure one that doesn't hit the same heights, but has Pinhas all over it is Ose - Adonia. A cool album, but one for down the road.

I was enticed to buy Masal based on the recommendations in this thread, but I admit I was a bit disappointed. Too tame to my tastes. I'm not a particular fan of the production values either.

With regard to Heldon, incidentally the ones I own are Stand By and Interface, which are fabulous. Chronolyse by Pinhas is also very, very good, nearly brain melting. My favorite record with Pinhas, actually.

For those of you who like Heldon, do check this one out: http://www.discogs.com/Georges-Gr%C3...release/959511

We're getting more in electronic territory than Zeuhl though.

Sean turned me on to this and I can definitely second the recommendation. A really great album.

Has it ever been reissued? Wouldn't mind hearing it.

heh... as soon as I saw the Ose recco I thought about the Grunblatt album
they are both pretty good... on the level of the more electronic Heldon albums, not the heavy ones

Check this one (George JINDA sole album, with Y. Seffer and Didier Batard from HELDON on bass), imo track 1 is killer :

The rest isn't bad either but less zeuhl-ish...
